For storage the colder the better. About the best a home freezer can achieve is about zero to plus 5. If you can make it colder it will keep longer and stay creamy. The more freeze/thaw cycles the ice cream goes through the worse it will get. It has to do with ice crystal formation and involves some pretty interesting physics. Dairy freezers are as cold as minus 30 F

The people quoting some significantly warmer temperature are good for scooping and perhaps eating but if stored at those temperature the ice cream will get ice crystals very quickly.
