Check it for bugs. If it is bug-free, it is probably safe to use, but there are ingredients in brownie mix that won't last forever, like baking soda and baking powder. Even if you use fresh water, new oil and fresh eggs, they may not turn out if the mix is past the expiration date



most expiration dates are really dates that just tell you when the product is in the best possible shape for it to be before it turns rancid. Like the other respondents, the mix should be okay as long as it has no bugs, off-flavors, or off-colors.



Well it really depends how out of date it is. If it's only a couple of days then it should probably be okay, but anything longer than about 5 days to a week and I'd throw it out. :)



Depends on how past the date it is. Worst case is that it'd taste stale or something along those lines.



I'd say as long is don't look or smell funny its safe to use. If it was stored correctly you should have no problems.
