What is the smell of table salt?!

Question: What is the smell of table salt?
When we buy the Jewel brand salt, it has a strange odor. Some containers smells very strongly and others just barely. The Morton salt, however, doesn't smell at all. What is causing this smell?

Answers:

salt does not have 'preservatives' in it since salt IS a preservative.
The most it has is iodine and/or an anti caking agent.
The cardboard container might be collecting odors.

The smell is probably caused by the preservative in the salt. and not from the acctual seasoning itself :)

Maybe you should try buying the better brand if this is occurring. I didn't know salt has a smell.
