Is dark chocolate healthy?!

Question: Is dark chocolate healthy?
Answers:

It's healthy if you have a couple of pieces a day from a block.

Why is Dark Chocolate Healthy?:
Chocolate is made from plants, which means it contains many of the health benefits of dark vegetables. These benefits are from flavonoids, which act as antioxidants. Antioxidants protect the body from aging caused by free radicals, which can cause damage that leads to heart disease. Dark chocolate contains a large number of antioxidants (nearly 8 times the number found in strawberries). Flavonoids also help relax blood pressure through the production of nitric oxide, and balance certain hormones in the body. Chocolate also holds benefits apart from protecting your heart: it tastes good, it stimulates endorphin production, which gives a feeling of pleasure, it contains serotonin, which acts as an anti-depressant, it contains theobromine, caffeine and other substances which are stimulants

Dark is polyphenole rich. a substance that protects the cells against damage and disease. A daily 20 gram is good for the blood stream and blood pressure. It is believed it can lower both the glucose and cholesterol levels. Milk chocolate contains more sugar and fat and has no benefits. The darker the better.

Yes, it is! Which is great news for chocolate freaks like me :)
But to get the most from dark chocolate it needs to be at least 80% cocoa, which is a lot of cocoa. Some people find it somewhat unpalatable that high but if you're an across the board chocolate lover it's quite enjoyable in it's own right. And as with everything we consume, moderation is key - a couple of small squares a day along with a healthy, balanced diet....blah, blah, blah....

Its better than commercial chocolate, but if you want the BEST health to chocolate ratio, pick a chocolate that's at LEAST 30% real coco, the higher the percentage, the healthier it is for you. Note that it is different tasting, but keep your palate open Vs a nasty Hershey bar. My personal favorite is the 70% Lindt chocolate bars.. hmm

>They say that dark chocolate has a lot of antioxidants in it which are supposed to be beneficial for anti-aging, but who really knows if this just isn't hype from the same people that bring you all the other phoney crap the world is full of.

Yes! Dark chocolate is healthy. Make sure you get the ones high in cocoa said by the other poster. Also, make sure that you eat in moderation. A little piece a day. Do not eat a whole big chocolate bar.

i think it is healthy because if it is dark then it must be cream or coffey which will be good for health.
