I found a 5 months old expired peanut butter?!

Question: I found a 5 months old expired peanut butter?
I found a 5 months old expired peanut butter, is it still edible?
I refrigerated it like a week or 2 ago. Still debating about throwing out or eat it fast.
The peanut butter is like hardened, though. the oil looks okay.
It is hard to open for a cold peanut butter, so i cannot smell test it. (since I forgot)

Answers:

I heard that peanut butter doesn't get bad a while after the expiration date, like, longer than that, because of the oils and things keeping it fresh. I don't take chances with things like that though, haha, I'm a mold-aphobe.

"The oil looks OK" you mean it separtated in the jar? Thats nasty. I've been broke and hungry and sometimes you gotta do..........., but if you got $3.00 in your pocket throw it out.

i would just suggest throwing it away.even though it might look okay its generally not good to eat food past the expiration date especially 5 months after.

I add two months to the last date on things like that -- I figure that the manufacturer is just trying to cover his butt.

just through it ...... buy next time a small pack so that if you didn't ate it then your money loss is less

general knowledge

Yes its still edible
