What is the difference between pickle, relish and chutney?!

Question: What is the difference between pickle, relish and chutney?
In Tesco you can buy tomato chutney, tomato pickle or tomato relish... so what is the difference?

Answers:

Not much. The dictionary definitions are below:
Pickle = Vegetables (especially cucumbers) preserved in brine or vinegar
Relish = Spicy or savoury condiment
Chutney = A spicy condiment made of chopped fruits or vegetables cooked in vinegar and sugar with ginger and spices

However to my understanding a Pickle uses whole small vegetables or whole eggs (as in pickled eggs)

A Relish can be as simple as tomato ketchup or mayonaisse with bits in it.

Whereas a Chutney is a specially prepared side dish or accompanyment. The word Chutney is derived from India. see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chutney

they're all made the same way, with variations for flavor differences. pickled veggies usually are whole pieces, relish is finely chopped while chutney comes either as strips or plainly shredded.

Different spices and such.=)
