What is starbucks free-refill policy?!

Question: What is starbucks free-refill policy?
I'm a little confused with their starbucks registered card policy. I have a registered card and I'm at the green level. On their website it says "When you’re at Starbucks you feel at home. Your registered Starbucks Card gets you brewed or iced coffee refills at no charge." But when I went to a starbucks they said "You only get free refills if you purchased the drink today". It doesn't say this anywhere on starbucks, so are they full of #$@! or what? I happen to get a drink that is green tea and soy milk (I know it sounds gross haha) which should be completely free if I have a cup (I can wash it out every day so who cares?) no matter what day I purchased it right?

Please help, this policy is confusing. Thank you very much.

Just because you bought a drink yesterday, it doesn't mean you can bring the cup back for free refills every day after that. This is common sense. If you were to run your own business and you gave free refills to everyone who bought the cup, you're going to go out of business.

thats common sense

if you buy a drink at any place that offers free refills, its only for that day, and then when you come back, you have to purchase the drink again to get free refills.
