My apple had no core or seeds. How did this happen?!

Question: My apple had no core or seeds. How did this happen?
I couldn't find any holes for bugs to have gone through. The apple looked fine on the outside. But once I got to the middle of the apple there was no core or seeds. Just a hole. What does this mean?
