What candy should I use for cotton candy?!

Question: What candy should I use for cotton candy?
In May (yes I know it's early to be thinking about), I'm havin g my 16th bday party. I'm getting a nostalgia cotton candy machine, just a small one. What candies (must be hard) should I use? I'm going to set up a "hard candy bar" and wanted to know what candy flavors would be good to use. I was thinking jolly ranchers, maybe those little strawberry hard candy things, what do you think about lemon heads? would those be good? any other ideas/experience w/ nostalgia cotton candy makers??

Cotton candy is made from spun sugar - you cannot use hard candies to make cotton candy.

You buy the coloured sugar and pour some into the machine, turn it on, and it spins the sugar and creates the cotton candy.

I have rented those machines countless times - that is the way it is made, there is no way you can take hard candies and turn them into cotton candy.

a cotton candy maker uses something called floss sugar and it comes in different colors and flavors. I'm not sure what your thinking when you are mentioning the other hard candies. you can check out floss sugar or go to www.valleypopcorn.com thats where i purchased mine

cotton candy is made from special sugar, not from other hard candies.
you might be able to get flavored floss sugar.

Use real cotton and just add sugar.

it is spun sugar,nothing more.
