My child hood foods were before fast food was invented. We had home made pies, blueberry, peach, apple and chocalate pie. Yummy. Also we had homemade burgers with skin on fries that were fried in peanut oil that were out of this world. My parents had a large garden so we had fresh corn on the cob, lettuce, tomatoes and lots of beans and peas. We had BLTS all the time for a snack. Roast beef was a staple at our house that was roasted with root veggies and served with mashed potatoes and gravy. Grandma made all the bread and pastries and rolls for us. She made these 3 layer cakes with drizzled icing that were made from scratch. Pizza dough was home made and so was the ketchup and pizza sauce. Hope this helps.

Wow, a comfort food truck! What a great idea. My mom made a great tuna-noodle casserole. Here's a link to a recipe site that lists the top 25 American comfort food dishes (tuna casserole is one of them). You can click on each one for the recipe. It also suggests cookbooks.

Don't forget that comfort food is often regional, so you'd want to lean what's popular in your area. Just google "comfort food" and you'll find a lot of sites.
