Why does the amount of calories in brocolli increase when they are boiled?!


Question: Why does the amount of calories in brocolli increase when they are boiled?
Or any food for that matter. If its just in water which is 0 calories, why would that increase the amount of calories?

Probably, because when a vegetable is boiled, is shrinks. Shrinking is the same thing as concentrating. So on a weight basis then, you are eating more broccoli when it is boiled and it has more calories in it as a result.



it can't increase, unless you are adding something to it. Unless there's a chemical reaction taking place that I'm not aware of. But generally.... what you put in the pot is what you'll get.
