Why is there MSG everywhere?!

Question: Why is there MSG everywhere?
It is not necessary and I notice that it is many of the foods that poor people have as a staple in their diets (like Hamburger Helper). Soups have it, sauces have it (if you made tacos, chances are, your taco meat seasoning had it). Chips have it. What gives? Especially given all the data on it. It isn't a preservative so I don't see how it enhances anyone's bottom line....I don't get it....does it make the flavoring more potent or something so you use less of it? It is a killer and people eat it frequently.......there are a lot of diabetics and heart patients out there.......and yes, your diet depends on you, but calories/$ tends to lead away from produce to the processed foods.....is this intentional?

I was born and raised in France and now live in the US, I have tried many different restaurants and each time I do eat in restaurant I vomit violently ! Cheap crap to make the food taste good, I have it ! Not going out to eat again. The market is made to lure people into eating. No thanks for me.

MSG is a flavor enhancer like salt. Many processed foods contain it, but if you follow a healthy diet and avoid foods that are processed (come in a bag, a box, or a can) you can steer clear of it.

There is no hard (scientific) evidence that MSG is harmful, but some people claim to have a sensitivity to it. Those people should avoid it as much as possible.

Its cheap and it enhances flavor. Thats the # 1 reason for its use. Food processors want "cheap".
Almost any boxed or canned processed food will have it. Thats why reading labels and eating fresh as often as possible is important.
Hamburger Helper is quick and easy, and its cheap- plus it tastes fairly good. But if you want the real "Beef & noodles, or potatoes and beef" it takes a little more time and a little trouble- and thats what most people do not have in today's fast paced world. Time is money.
I say- slow down. Make it yourself.

MSG is a particular engineered flavor that is specifically designed to make as many taste buds react as possible - it has savory, salty, sweet, and sour flavors, so the food with MSG simply has more taste, though it doesn't necessarily taste BETTER than food without MSG. So, yeah - people add MSG to food as a cheap way to avoid blandness.

its a slightly addictive flavour enhancer. that's why. but it's being phased out cos its not good for you at all!
