Would this salad still be okay to eat? Please read?!

Question: Would this salad still be okay to eat? Please read?
I bought a chicken strip salad earlier today and when I got home I forgot it on the kitchen counter for about an hour and a half. As soon as I remembered it was there, I put it in the fridge. I hate for it to go to waist, but I don't want food poisoning either. Do you think it is fine to eat or not? I put my hand on the bottom of it and it felt like room temperature, but it's in a plastic container with a lid and in a plastic bag, so I don't know really how cold or hot the meat is or anything. If it is okay, it will be eaten tonight :-) Thanks

It should be ok. I would eat it. But if it sat out much longer, you might pick the chicken off. But 11/2 hours, should be ok. If it was summer time, and hot, I would not eat the chicken.

Considering that the recommended guideline is to get groceries from the store to your fridge in 3 hours or less, yes. However...if it were me, I would reheat the chicken strips in the microwave and let them cool before eating to kill off any ickies. ;) Enjoy your salad!

It's fine. Less than 2 hours at room temp. What's not fine is that you can't spell WASTE.

Waist is where your belt is located.

It should be fine. If you left it out overnight, then I wouldn't suggest it.

i think it is fine you should eat.

Remember food poisoning is caused by bacteria that grow on or in the food. Bacteria that cause food born illness will not grow at temps below 40 or above 145. Between these temps bacteria grow rapidly.

So your salad was on the counter for an hour and a half, How long was it from the time you got it then got home and put it on the counter? Also, it is possible that the salad could have been in the danger zone (between 40 and 145) for some time before it was even served to you.

A lot of people don't realize it but salads, especially salad bar salads, are the most common source of food born illness. Most people think of meat when they think of food poisoning, but its not.

Be careful.
