Why do people buy 2% milk?!

Question: Why do people buy 2% milk?
So you buy a gallon of milk, and only 2% of its actually milk? Whats the other 98%, water? Why not buy whole milk, it seems like buying 2% is a rip off. I buy whole milk because you get almost 100% more for almost free.
So my question is, why on earth, would anyone buy 2% milk?

Hillery's explanation is correct. I do buy 2% milk. I love milk and drink a lot of it. I grew up drinking only whole milk, but then tried to switch to 1%. (Skim milk--also called fat-free--is too watery for me). However, I realized I didn't enjoy chocolate milk or cereal with it, and had almost stopped drinking milk. I found that 2%, while not the healthiest choice, allows me to enjoy milk and keep drinking it. Hooray for 2%!

I hope you are being facetious...

Its not that the product is 2% milk. It is 2% fat in the milk. Whole milk is milk that has not had any fat removed from it.

2% Milk is still milk. It just has 2%milk fat in it. So it is not as fatting or as bad for you as whole milk.

2% means its 2% fat. It's still milk no matter what. and Whole Milk, its just a ton of fat. i drink skim milk.

Whole milk is gross. It's way too thick.

to drink it
