It simple. Greet them. 'Hello I'm ______, I'll be your waitress this evening, here are some menus. Would you like something to drink?' Also, eat out more and observe those waitresses. Hehe, that sounded dirty.

It probably is pretty simple, but basically, watch all the other waiters and waitresses, and see what they are doing, and copy them as best you can. Its a really good idea to learn everything on the menu, so if customers ask you about it you will know, and seem more experienced which may earn you some tips! Be REALLY polite to customers, and maybe when they are ordering, you could even recommend a certain meal! Definitely make sure that all the plates, glasses, cutlery etc. are cleared away IMMEDIATELY once a customer has left, because nobody like to sit at a table full of dirty plates. If you come across a difficult customer, just remember to keep your cool, and never argue with them. If they get too out of control just call the manager. Oh, and make sure you look neat and presentable, it actually makes quite a big difference!

Well, you can't fake it; believe me as a veteran waitress, you'll give yourself away the first 15 minutes. A big smile, good manners, attention to the customers' order details, fast response, and keeping their drinks filled is the very bare minimum for a server. Not pissing off the cooks is a BIG part of it; if they' dont' like you, your food and tips will suffer for it.

Firstly, it is not a good idea to lie on an application. They have every right to dismiss you if they find out you falsified your application. Next, you know what a waitress does. Allow them to train you in their way of doing things. You will pick it up quickly. If you don't .... then you are not meant to be a waitress. Once you know what you are doing....choose the tables of single guys or tables with all guys. They usually give the best tips. Do lots of smiling and flirting and give them good service. its your fault for lying. just tell him the truth and maybe he will understand. its better to come clean then to just lye infront of his face. and trust me... if you lose your job, it will be easy to find another
