Brown sugar is like 95% SUGAR. If you're trying to lose weight, you might try just a tiny bit of brown sugar, or you might try Splenda instead.
I changed my entire eating habits completely 3 months ago for heath reasons and not to lose weight. The positive side effect is that I did lose weight. 25 pounds so far. I eat oatmeal 4 days a week. I use 4 tablespoons of brown sugar, no milk, and no butter. In addition to weigh loss my cholesterol got back to normal. I eat Bran Flakes the other three days and in both cases I have two pieces of toast with strawberry jam. But this is only breakfast. For snacks I eat fresh fruit. For lunch I have a container of no-fat yogurt. Fo dinner I have a 6 ounce can of Albacorec tuna in water mixed with some some frozen mixed vegetables. Dieting is a mindset. It's easy once you decide you really want to look good and feel good.
3-4 sounds like too much for me.
I generally add some fruit syrup from a can of fruit to stir in with boiling water and then nuke for about 30 seconds, give it another stir and nuke to a further 30 seconds and then add some fruit.
I like mine really hot.
Using the brown sugar will probably only up your calorie intake by about 50 calories. It's not really a big deal because you don't want to force yourself to eat boring oatmeal. I make mine with milk and white sugar. :)
Everything is bad if not used in moderation. Try only using a few tablespoons of brown sugar. Or maybe try a little maple syrup instead.
I would substitute some clover honey or a tsp. low-calorie maple syrup instead.
you could try sweet n low sugar or something, but i love mine with brown sugar too, delicious, i think its worth it
