What is "deliciousness"?!


Question: What is "deliciousness"?
My question is about deliciousness of food, not about situation or context in which it is eaten.

Some people really like mass-produced commercialized fast food, and although they are impressed with fine dining, they sometimes find those dishes exotic due to whatever unfamiliar herbs and stuff.

Other people honestly enjoy "posh" dishes. Not about the chef who cooked it, not about the history of the dish, not about its reputation, they honestly savor and enjoy the flavors.

However, most people probably agree that beef and potatoes go well together. Most people find fresh fish simply grilled with salt tasty. Who hates BBQ with beer or glasses of merlot?

What is the honest deliciousness in food? Something that makes us happy..

To make my point clear, let's talk about the acidity in wine. First time, we find it sour. As we get used to it, we realized that there are many different kinds of acidity. Some find it is not for them. Others begin to seek after wine with "nice" acidity. That is a personal choice. We have two different groups of people here. For those who appreciate the way some wine finishes with a certain acidity, those who don't are novice in wine. On the other hand, people who do not like acidity cannot understand why other people like it so much even though they are experienced drinkers. Therefore, one may say acidity in wine is what some people come to appreciate and others don't.

What is the common deliciousness? Is there such a thing at all? Or is it about food in context and there is not such thing of deliciousness per se?

Deliciousness is completely a matter of opinion. It's as simple as it was in elementary school, when we pulled the (let's say, tuna) sandwich that mom made that we thought was the best food in the world from our lunch box, and some kids held their nose while others offered up their oreos. Everyone's taste buds are different, therefore there is no standard form of deliciousness, just commonly liked things. On menu's it's more common to find spaghetti and marinara sauce than spaghetti and mustard sauce, just because it is the more commonly chosen thing. That's not to say there isn't somewhere out there who likes mustard on their spaghetti, it's just safer to offer marinara because of it's higher probability of being chosen.
