Why is it so hard to reopen a bottle of pop after you've already opened it?!

Question: Why is it so hard to reopen a bottle of pop after you've already opened it?
So far I have two half-full bottles of pop that I can't get open for the life of me! It's so frustrating. Does anyone else have this problem? And please don't call me a weakling because I'm not, lol. Does it have something to do with the pressure that builds up in the pop? I have no clue.

Answers:

yessssss it is the pressure
and i have the same problem

I have that problem all the time! I'm thinking it might be the sugar in the pop that makes it stick, but it could also be the pressure like you said. I recently got a rubber pad that helps open bottles and jars that don't want to open. That helps most of the time, but sometimes I still have to call my dad in. Maybe you could go to the grocery store and look for one of those rubber things..
Hope this helps!

When you shake the bottle you can tell it gets hard.

Idk? Maybe you screwed the cap too tight. It suppose to more simple the 2nd time.

The sugar hardens like glue. Run the top under hot water for a few seconds and it'll come off like it was greased.

Probally Cause Your *** Is Weak(:

Me

That doesn't happen to me.. probably because I use my teeth or a wrench when I can't open it with my hands. Try that!

lol what a funny little question

The pressure inside the pop bottle does not change. When the pressure outside the bottle changes, as can be measured by a barometer, so that the bottle has significantly less pressure inside than that which exists outside the bottle, it's as if the bottle was vacuum sealed. For instance, this could happen if you opened and closed the bottle on a mountain pass, and then tried again at sea level. The pressure at sea level is greater. It can also happen, to a lessor degree, if pressure changed due to weather changes. You'll need to break the seal by using a can opener, puncture, or knocking the lid against something solid.
