What do Eels taste like?!

Question: What do Eels taste like?
They serve them at a cafe near my place, but they don't sound that appealing.

Answers:

As a chef, I had many types in Canada, the UK and in Asia when I worked in Hotels, smoked eel is nice, like a greasy kipper, the jellied eels I had in the U.K in the east end of London with one of my chef mates at "G.Bells" pie shop, were nice, just like cold canned tuna with jelly on it, in Asia we cooked water eels, conger eels and when I worked in Japan we got pike eels in the spring, not bad, just horrible things to clean, especially when still alive. I would say try them if your not satisfied you can at least say you tried them.

European eels are very tasty in my opinion, my favorite fish. But I have never eaten any other eels and you probably mean American eels, so I don't know for sure. You should ask from someone who works in that cafe next time you go to there.

Ask if you can taste some , I`m sure the owners would be more than happy to let you taste a small sample.

I would say they taste similar to Belly Pork. If they serve them near you, try them . . .!
