Why is there an expiration date on sour cream?!

Question: Why is there an expiration date on sour cream?
Answers:

Because sour cream will go bad eventually..

So that you can know when it goes bad! where you cant eat it anymore, or you can tell because there's green things just sitting on the sour cream. Don't eat it when it is past due or els your mouth and the sour cream will be having a horrible battle!

because a different type of bacteria grows in the product the older it gets. once there is what is deemed "too much" of it, it's not safe to eat anymore. also, depending on the temperature of your fridge, it can start sprouting mold.

It will eventually go from "sour" to "moldy".

...mind blown.

maybe when it gets extra sour you need to throw it out.

its a dairy product
