What can I cook in a 4 quart slow cooker/crock pot?!
I am online shopping so it is hard to tell how big these really are.
Would I be able to make one of those little (rotisserie) chickens in a 4 quart?
Answers:
yes a small fryer would fit in the pot. You can do any roast beef, pork, veal and even lamb in one and add spoice and 1/2 cup water. Add onions if you like. Makes great entre and great left over for sandwiches or chop for barbque.
Slow cooker pulled pork
It’s not real barbecue, but it is real easy and really good
Ingredients
For the rub:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup smoked paprika
5 tablespoon garlic powder
3 tablespoon onion powder
5 tablespoon chipotle powder
5 tablespoons kosher salt
1 tablespoon black pepper
5 lbs Boston butt pork roast
1 large onion quartered
5 cloves of garlic crushed
1 cup red wine vinegar
Chicken stock in a box
Method
Combine the ingredients for the rub in a bowl or in a jar and combine thoroughly. Cut 1 inch wide and 1 inch deep slits in the roast with a chef’s knife. Rub meat down with rub ensuring some gets in the slits.
Place the rubbed roast in a slow cooker and add the onion, garlic and vinegar and enough chicken stock to just cover the roast. Set the slow cooker to low and cook for 6 to 8 hours. Take the roast out of the slow cooker and shred with two forks. Serve on buns with favorite barbecue sauce and cole slaw.
Slow cookers are great for cooking all sorts of things, from breakfasts to desserts to entrees.
- porridge for breakfast
- roasts of meat for dinner
- pasta dishes (lazy-man`s lasagna, anyone?)
- puddings & cakes for dessert
