Question: Do you agree that eating disorders are caused partially by popular culture these days? Justify yourself.?
Answers:

I think eating disorders are caused by low self-esteem...which pop culture partially contributes to..the rest is dependent on the person's home life and relationships with family and peers.

NO and YES! Yes bc society wants us to be a size 2-4 or healthy, zit free, porcelain skin, PERFECT! NO bc the basis behind these disorders are more the norm from past trauma. Someone could have been abused in some form of the other so they don't feel adequate so they eat or throw up or what not. The norm for these disease are not really society based. I bet 99.9% are life trauma related. Also eating disorders are the hardest disease a counselor works with. There is a huge failure rate bc it's so hard to work through.

Moral to my story: Don't believe everything you hear and don't assume everything.

I have a BA in applied psychology

yes cuz everywhere there r movie stars and celebs that are all the barbie doll perfect looks, and then chicks want that look, they see that guys notice skinnier girls over the regular sized ones and then that promotes eating disorders
