Where are all the Vegans in St. Louis?!
Where are all the Vegans in St. Louis?
I was curious as to what groups of vegans there are in the St. Louis area? What restaurants are Vegan/Vegan-friendly? Why is the St. Louis area so behind on the Vegan train? I would love to make a group to go out and have dinner with at the local places, etc. to make a Vegan Network.

Hey Babe! A Vegan St. Louisan here! Check out www.geocites.com/thestlvs/ The St. Louis Vegetarian Society has a potluck once a month and the members are vegans and vegetarians. You can sign up for their newsletter and they will email a reminder a week or two before the event. They have various speakers and sometimes the potlucks are sponsored by a restaurant so the food is provided. If you're a member and bring food the potluck is free, without a dish $5. Non-members are $5 with a dish, $10 without (prices off the top of my head, check the site to be sure).
As far as restaurants, Eternity Deli is probably the best known. Its on Euclid in the Central West End, a few blocks from the Metro. Their food is pretty darn good and the prices are fair. OR Smoothie in Brentwood is another good choice. Try the spring rolls (they come with a sauce made with Braggs- yummy).
Head down to South Grand or the Loop(my hood) for lots of Thai. Also, Al-Tarboush Deli on the corner of westgate & delmar, in the Loop has the best Falafel ever. Make sure to try the tabouli and Fatoush Salad. I'm in there at least twice a week.
Keep in mind, as much as STL likes to pretend its on the cutting edge, it is still country. Still, more and more veg places are popping up, you just gotta go look for them. Cuz if we don't support them, they won't last. ~peace
