Vegans - how many animals have you killed today?!

Question:

Vegans - how many animals have you killed today?

Steven Davis, professor of animal science at Oregon State University declared that at least one study has shown that simply mowing an alfalfa field caused a 50% reduction in the gray-tailed vole population. This is just for alfalfa fields. Imagine how many animals are crushed in turbines in wheat, corn, etc. fields. Own any dress shoes or belts? probably leather. Ever rode in a car, tires are made from animals. What good are you actually doing. And don't say we are "limiting the deaths," because you are obviously not limiting anything. And dont tell me you kill less than me, because I dont care if I kill animals, you do.

Answers:
Huh... funny thing is, is that alfalfa is used to feed cows and other livestock... So, those deaths again, are on you.

And, yes... we are limiting deaths. It's not about 100% compliance. It's about the small steps that you make towards a better future.

What about all the dead fish and wildlife that die as a result of poisoned rivers and streams from dairys and pig farms?

And, the fact that we DO kill less than you... has nothing to do with whether you care or not.

for every one animal a vegitarean doesn't eat, i'll eat 3

Whatever man, it makes them feel better. Long as they don't try to convert me, it's cool.

I had a bowl of Cherios.

about 52,654,258,789,123 give or take one or two

That's what separates some animals (you) and humans. Humans feel and care.

I got a severe case of indigestion reading your question.

Or, it could be the 22 ounce steak I had for lunch. Not sure which.

Whoa! unprovoked defense of your beliefs. You are scary.
By the way, I eat animals, wear leather, etc.

I killed a roach this morning at work and put it in the vegan's salad. They thought it was bacon bits!!! lol!

They get to act all smug so it's worth it to them.

Your question made me think back fondly on the T bone steak I had for lunch today. Mmmmm. Thanks.

I had no idea there was a relationship between killing animals and choosing to eat healthier.

Some people may chose to be vegan for that reason. That is in no way the main reason for the general population who chose to be vegans

Sounds like you have a case of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE).

I dont think thats the point! The point is to save animals... and many vegans do not have leather belts or shoes. Not eating meat and not wearing leather does not mean that vegans do not ever interact with something that does not hurt animals just means that they are trying not to. I am a vegetarian... and I do own leather shoes/belts; I even cook meat for my friends and family. But I just choose not to eat it... I mite not be saving the world or all animals with my choice not to eat meat... but I am satisfied with my part.

Why do you care so much? And why do you keep posing questions that you don't want an answer to? If you want to go veg, do it, don't harass us! And if you don't like it that we can give up the meat and you can't, then just deal with it! And veg*ans, if they are vegan for animal rights, try to avoid leather and other animal products. A few of us even grow all of our own food!

i'm kind of confused...

think of how many animals you've killed over that past year just to fill your insides with fatty cholestrol and fats...and not to mention your greater chance of heart problems.

oh shut up and get off your pedestal. and (most of us) dont wear any animal products. some of us have our own gardens and where did you get your information anyways? is there a reason your trying to make us feel as though were doing something wrong?

Your're telling me that crop farming kills more than 10 billion animals per year, plus the animals used for sea food?I highly doubt that. And why do you even care, don't even come back to this forum.I don't wear leather,

You could at least try to come up with a new question? Come on I've answered this for you already. Although the tires and road thing was a nice twist.

TO ALL THE TROLL OUT THERE PLEASE PLEASE PUT SOME EFFORT INTO IT.

I mean come on, if the lifestyle bothers you that much then don't post here, but if you must be a troll at least be a good troll. I need a good laugh.

The same question could also be asked of people who some consider to be wasting time trying to feed the starving people of the world. If you can't save them all why bother? This is an attitude that people use as an excuse to just be lazy. If you had educated yourself at all you would know that vegetarians save the lives of 100+ animals a year....but obviously you are much too ignorant to know this. We all cause some unecessary harm but just because oyu might unintentionally cause some harm is no reason - or excuse - to intentionally cause unecessary harm. Just because you might hit someone with your car is no reason to go and run them over on purpose. But if this attitude helps you sleep at night....then keep it.

We have already answered this question for you. Veganism is not a matter of purity, we do the best we can wile still living in the real world. If you meet a "Vegan" who still ate any animal product, wore animal products that were bought after they became Vegan, or didn't at least make some attempt to avoid products of animal testing then I could understand you having a problem with the consistency of their morals, I would too.

"...that simply mowing an alfalfa field caused a 50% reduction in the gray-tailed vole population."

- Did you ever think this might be because they left? If the land can't sustain half of them anymore maybe the other half went to go find a different habitat? I find it hard to believe that all that many animals are killed by crop farming. It's not like these are stealthy machines. They are loud and create a good deal of vibration, I would think if an animal can avoid a predator that is specifically trying to catch them they could avoid a big, slow machine that make a bunch of noise.

"Own any dress shoes or belts? probably leather. Ever rode in a car, tires are made from animals"

- If the shoes or belt were bought before they were Vegan, this is acceptable, it's a personal choice to keep or not keep this products. Tires are part of that best we can wile still living in the real world thing, it's not realistic for many people not to drive at all.

"What good are you actually doing. And don't say we are "limiting the deaths," because you are obviously not limiting anything."

- Um, we obviously are, and that pretty darn obvious. We aren't contributing the the 40 billion animals, including sea animals and yes I said billon, that are killed every year for food. We vote with our dollars, and that's the only vote that really counts any more.

"And don't tell me you kill less than me, because I dont care if I kill animals, you do."

- I just did, you don't care if you kill animals, wow good for you, but we did not ask if you care did we?

It's pretty bad when other meat eaters are tired of your crappy attempt at being a troll. at least FHG actually gets people to care a bit about what he says.

I wish you luck in thinking up something more interesting to ask.

What do you care if some people want to be vegetarians? Get a life, dork.
