Some vegetarians do, but vegans do not. They contain gelatin which is made by boiling bones and ligaments. Not very vegetarian at all. Everything that contains gelatin is made that way: jell-o, jelly beans, candies.

i don't see why not

Yes.

If they like them?

yea

wow easy 2 points.
I can't resist.............do you think that marshmallows are made from MEAT!!!!!!??????????????????

I am sorry...don't mean to be arrogant, they are made from meat, they are little fluffy animals that look a lot like rabbits. I think that it is cruel to eat those cute little marshmallow, especially the small ones!, the ones called mini marshmallows

not normally. they contain gelatin...which is very much NOT vegetarian. but there are vegan/vegetarian types. but they are somewhat hard to find.

Yeah, I do. Unless their some type of animal part in it I don't know about.

Well I'm not a vegetarian but I read last night while looking online for marshmellows info that some vegetarians do not eat marshmellows b/c of gelatin or something because of it coming from hides and bones of an animal

YES THEY DO. The only t hing vegetarions do not eat is anything containing meat or blood. Marshmallows aren't meat so they can eat marshmallows unless thy do not like them

Maybe vegan marshmallows.

Why wouldn't they? It's not meat??? And I'm a vegetarian and I eat them

I assume you mean marshmallows (yes, it sounds like mellow)
Marshmallows are usually made of corn syrup and gelatin, so they are okay for vegies to eat. If the marshmallows have gelatin, however, they are not kosher and your Orthodox Jewish friends will not eat them.

No, true vegans do not eat marshmallows because they have gelatin in them which is made from bone marrow.

what r marshmellows i heard of marshmallows but not marshmellows.and idont know if they eat those.well yeah they probably do because its not meat they have to eat somthin sweat once in a while.

I would think so

no they don't... marshmallows have gelatin in them.... vegetarians don't eat gelatin.....

i've heard jelly belly's are safe from gelatin as far as jelly beans go.....

I would say no because of the gelatin.

I'm a vegetarian and I do eat marshmellows. Vegetarians who eat dairy and egg products generally do not exclude gelatin. Vegans probably wouldn't eat marshmellows, however.

I THINK GELATIN AND JELLO COME FROM THE GROUND HOOVES OF CATTLE BUT MAYBE THEY TOSS THE BONES IN THE GRINDER TOO. I WONDER IF YOU COULD MAKE GELATIN OUT OF OUR FINGERNAIL CLIPPINGS ???

Vegetarians will not eat marshmallows. They contain gelatin, which comes directly from bones, tendons, cartilage, etc. of animals. Some people say that vegans will not eat gelatin, but vegetarians will. This is wrong. The difference between the two is that vegans will not eat animals or any of their byproducts, and vegetarians won't eat the animals. I'm sure you'd agree that bones, cartilage, etc. are very much part of the animal. Therefore, not being vegetarian-friendly.

Oh, also there are vegan marshmallows that are made from the actual marshmallow plant or other similar textures. Most of these replacements are vegetarian-friendly. There is Kosher gelatin, but I believe that is derived from fish, and because fish is an animal, it is not vegetarian either. Basically, if something says that it does consist of gelatin, it is certainly not vegetarian-friendly.

I guesss

Wow, amazing how many peeps don't know where gelatin comes from. I never eat marshmallows (except vegan ones). No cow feet for me,thanks.

some, i dont eat marshmellows with geletin because i dont eat geletin. there are vegetarian marshmellows.

Oh my goodness i had no idea. i'm a vegg. but love!!! marshallows. thanks for ruining that for me
just kidding it's ok but that is really interesting maybe there are non ground bone mallows, where did you find that out,
e-mail me and tell me

A real vegetarian does not eat anything that has gelatin.

I'm shocked at how many people have responded yes, vegetarians eat marshmallows. Any vegetarian that eats marshmallows isn't a very good vegetarian....It's a pretty simple rule: if you don't eat meat, you cannot eat gelatin.

i don't .but they can eat ,marshmallow fluff ( all the same ingredients, except no gelatin)

I'm a vegetairian, and I don't eat marshmellow's or anything else that contains gelatin, which also include altoids, skittles, gummy bears (and other gummy snacks), starburst, and necco wafers. I'm sure there are more foods that I'm forgetting to mention, but those are just a few. I consider eating products with gelatin as bad as eating meat...

No. It has gelatin.
