Can vegetarians have dairy?!

Question:

Can vegetarians have dairy?

i mean like can they have dairy and still be considered a vegarian?

Answers:
Yes it is vegans that cannot have dairy products including milk yogurt cheese cream.
If you eat dairy products and still refrain from eating meat you will then turn to a vegetarian.
You can only live the life of a vegan or a vegetarian and can't like convert. It is a way how you choose your life. How society views and tables you doesn't matter as you can cheat once a month or so with a cake if you are at a party.
Vegans are defined as eating no product that comes from animals while vegetarians are considered people who don't eat meat.
Vegans don't eat meat either so they are still considered vegetarians at a different level of restraint from meat.

In the end yes vegetarians can eat dairy products and still be vegarian.

I am vegetarian.

Yes. The term for someone who doesn't eat meat or dairy is vegan.

no

yea...it's vegans that don't eat anything from animals (including dairy)

Yeah... you don't kill the cow to get the milk o.0 It's like eating eggs - so long as they're not the one made by a rooster and hen, then its okay cause nothing got killed
Yeah for all of you who thought that all eggs supposedly had a chick in them, think again!

not without being a hypocrite

yes because a vegetarian is just someone who doesn't eat meat. If you don't eat dairy or meat or anything that is living or comes from a living thing, you are a vegan.

Yes. Dairy and eggs are vegetarian foods, but not vegan, which is more restricted.

Yes I think so. It's a vegan that doen't have any dairy, egg etc (any animal product basically). Vegetarians just pass on the meat bit, but I suppose at the end of the day it's not so much about the label but more about the person and what they feel comfortable eating.

yes unless you are a vegan then no.most vegetarians eat dairy cheese milk eggs.butter.

ABSOLUTELY! If you are a regular vegetarian, yes.(called lacto-ovo vegetarian) If you are vegan, no. There are also break downs of vegetarianism: Ovo vegetarians eat eggs but not dairy. Lacto vegetarians eat dairy but not eggs. But really, who cares what they are called? The way i see it is any "step" of vegetarian is better for you and for the world than the way you ate before.

Only if you are not vegan

It depends on the vegarian and what they believe in. Some think it is OK and some don't think it is all right to eat dairy products.

vegetarians can have diary products, but VEGANS cant. theres the difference. its as easy as that. bon appetit!

Yes! Lactovegetarians consume dairy products.

vegitarians are able to have dairy products. Those that don't have any animal product at all (no dairy, no meat, no animail products) are called vegans

yeah ur not vegan.

This is actually a tricky question to answer. Some people believe that the definition of vegetarian is someone who eats no meat but does eat eggs and dairy. Others believe that the true definition of vegetarian is someone who doesn't eat any meat, dairy or eggs. Try looking it up on the net...you will find many different definitions.

Vegetarians are non meat eaters so you can have dairy although many do not consider fish to be meat. Vegans do not eat anything that is produced by an animal such as milk or cheese and eggs.

sure its not meat but just don't eat eggs

Yes, vegitarians eat dairy. Its vegans that do not eat anything an animal produces.

Yes, but if you are lacto-vegetarian You don't eat egg ingredients. I am a vegan and don't eat any animal products. I would watch out for food with meat ingredients, like powdered donuts, they have beef fat in them! also candy with gelatin, it comes from animal flesh.

yes but true hard core vegitarians dont use anything from animals, not just their meat.

I think vegitarians are phsyco

Yes vegetarians may but VEgans cannot.

It is really up to you. I do, but I know a lot of people who does not.

there are different variations of vegetarianism, you can do whatever you feel is right for you. Vegetarians who eaet dairy are called lacto vegetarians.

I happen to be a pesco-vegetarian, or pescetarian; I still eat fish.

There are many different practices of vegetarianism and depending upon which one you follow, the rules to eating what, changes.

Here is a table that will tell you the difference between different kinds:

Type (MEAT, EGG,DAIRY)
------------------------------...
1. Lacto-ovo vegetarianism (No, Yes, Yes)
2. Lacto vegetarianism (No, No, Yes)
3. Ovo vegetarianism (No, Yes, No)
4. Veganism (No, No, No)

Hope it helped.

Yes, vegans are the ones who can't have dairy.

Yes, if you are a ovo/lacto vegetarian then you can eat dairy and egg products. However, strict vegetarians do not.

If you are vegan you wouldn't eat meat or dairy and egg products. A vegan isn't someone who just doesn't eat meat, eggs, or dairy. We also choose to not use medications and products tested on animals, clothing usinging animal products, or make up contianing animal products or having been tested on animals. Being vegan is a lifestyle choice and affects all parts of your life, not just your diet.
