Dangers of Soy Milk?!

Question:

Dangers of Soy Milk?

A family member told me that they had read there were very serious possible dangers with the consumption of even small amounts of soy milk. Specifically affecting human hormones and causing problems with fertility, etc. (I know the warnings dealing with infants, speaking of adults here.)

So basically, is there any FACTUAL basis to this claim, or another wacky idea from my family? ;)

Answers:
There are many positives about soy but also several serious negatives. It suppresses thyroid function so MUST be avoided by anyone on synthroid. For healthy people it can cause hypothyroidism. It also blocks intake of essential minerals, so if eaten in large quantities can cause mineral deficiency. If you're eating soy and feel "spacey," that's the reason. Other issues include fertility, liver disease and more. All this can happen with only one small serving per day!

The worst is soy protein isolate, which is in the food kids eat at school and in baby formula!

Unfortunately, the isolate is in MANY processed foods and almost impossible to completely avoid.

For more information Google "soy unhealthy" and you'll be amazed at what comes up.

Looks like it could lower your testosterone I found this site.. that was pretty good http://www.quantumbalancing.com/news/soy...

This concern is running rife but in reality there really isn't anything to worry about. The hormones that are causing the worries about soya milk are only present in very small amounts, and not enough to do any harm. Soya milk is very good for you, and this is proven by looking at Eastern people - soya is consumed widely there and they are all in much better health than we are.

Dairy milk is far more harmful than soya - milk from animals is loaded with strong hormones which is great for growing calves, but not for infant or adult humans! Added to that is the antibiotics given to cows and you have a very deadly mixture indeed. Very few people can tolerate lactose and that's hardly surprising as we aren't meant to drink the stuff.

My guess is that the dairy industry have something to do with reeking up these claims about the "damaging" effects of soya milk - because it diverts the attention away from the bad effects of cows milk. They wouldn't want to lose money, would they?
