Do vegetarians eat fish?!

Question:

Do vegetarians eat fish?

I know fish has eyes, blood, intestines, brain, heart and all. But I am a moron and an uneducated idiot who cannot think for myself. I blindly believe everything my friends say. My friends said fish is not meat. Do you know what species of tree fish comes from, and what kind of soil and fertilizer the fish tree needs?

Answers:
Nicely phrased (and thanks for the laugh).

I love it when people call themselves vegetarian but eat fish -- they really do believe they're vegetarians, too! I also like it when my mother says "I don't eat meat" as she's sitting there eating chicken. Of course, she means she doesn't eat *red* meat. But why stick with established the definition of something when you can make up your own, I guess....

vegans eat fish

no dear buddy..vegeterians dont eat which was living animal b4 dying

fish is non-veg

LOL. Good joke. But I'm sure the fish-eating "vegetarians" STILL don't understand.

No vegetarians don't eat fish, and contrary to the first poster's answer vegans don't eat fish either. Vegans totally avoid anything to do with animals - so no animal products or clothing or toiletries derived from animals. Vegetarians avoid meat and fish but sometimes chose to eat milk and/or eggs as they are not animal flesh.

Technically, a true vegetarian doesn't eat fish because it's an animal.

I do know people that call themselves vegetarian, but will make exceptions for fish on occasion.

vegetarians can eat fish but it is worth asking the individual person. vegans do not eat anything to do with a animal including dairy.

Some do, somre don't.

Real vegetarians do not eat fish. Although some people say they are vegetarians.. but still eat fish and chicken... makes me so mad.

Yes fish grow on sand in the seabed and its fertiliser is coral

Some do... Cause its the only meat that gentle on the stomach

Yeah,we do.I have been a vegetarian since I was 12,but I still eat fish. And by the way, vegans DO NOT eat fish and eggs and any of that.

im nt a vegetarian bt i dont think vegetarians eat fish. if they do, they arent vegetarian!!! :p :)

Technically no & really no if your a vegan. I find getting enough protein as vegetarian is difficult & I get sick without some meat. I eat steamed fish anyhow & no longer call myself a vegitarian.

yes some do.

lol love this. it makes me so annoyed when people call themselves veggie but still eat fish. if you eat fish there is no name for your diet other than omnivore!

I am a lacto-ovo-vegetarian meaning I don't eat meat but I do eat eggs and milk. Vegans are fully vegetarian, so no eggs and fish. Some people call themselves vegetarians but do eat fish, IMHO that's contrary to the definition of the word vegetarian.

My friends and coworkers always had a hard time remembering what I ate and what i didn't. If I ate fish or shrimp or not. So I made up a very simple definition and they stopped asking. I told them:

"I it defecates I don't eat it"

Actually I didn't use the word defecate but you get the point.

No..
?

yes and no.
some vegetarians treat fish as any kind of animal, so they dont eat it.
some do.
there are vegetarians known as:
semi-vegetarians avoid meat but eat poultry and other animal foods
Lacto-ovo-vegetarians avoid poultry and fish as well as meat, but do include milk and eggs in their diets.
lacto-vegetarians consume only milk products

A person who is essentially a vegetarian but who eats fish (and no meat) is a Pescetarian or Pesco-Vegetarian - I am one.

Personally I hate people who say they are vege and eat chicken - ugh.

Vegetarian: won't eat anything that has to be killed to ingest.
Vegan: no animal products at all.

Never. One who eats fish is not a vegetarian.
