"This marinated smoked tofu fries up into crisp veggie bacon! Freezing the tofu and thawing helps to improve the texture, and makes it easier to slice."
Original recipe yield: 4 servings.

INGREDIENTS:
* 1 (7.5 ounce) package smoked firm tofu, frozen and thawed
* 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
* 1 tablespoon water
* 2 tablespoons maple syrup
* 1 dash liquid smoke flavoring
* 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
* 1 teaspoon onion powder
* 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
* 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
DIRECTIONS:
1. Slice the thawed tofu into very thin slices (like bacon). In a medium bowl, stir together the yeast, water, maple syrup, liquid smoke, soy sauce, onion powder and garlic powder. Place the tofu strips into the bowl to marinate for at least 10 minutes.
2. Heat butter or margarine in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Quickly fry tofu strips until crisp, turning once, about 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels, and serve immediately.
When done, put on toast with veganaise, lettuce and tomato
I don't know why I have all the fattening recipes. Sometimes you just have to let yourself eat something fattening and delicious. But be warned, this is NOT a once a week meal.

I first ate this BLT at a vegan cafe'.
It is divine.
Using smoked-tofu and/or the liquid smoke gives it the bacon-y-ness

what kind of papers do you use to smoke tofu
i can't belive it lit
If it's firm, you can make a yummy chili! Use the canned beans, so you can make it quickly and choose which beans you want. Use salt, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper for the spices. I've made it before and it's so good!
Have a look at http://www.recipezaar.com you can see lots of Smoked Tofu recipes and what people have rated them as when they have tried the recipes. Good Luck!
Make smoked tofu wraps. Cut the tofu into strips and cut veggies and maybe a nice dressing to go with it. Roll all of this neatly into a wrap. There you go hope you enjoy.
I like it with veggies over rice with a little nutritional yeast sprinkled on top. Yum.
I eat it cubed on salad or right out of the package. You could also use it in Jambalaya (soup with tomato/rice/celery/peppers, look it up online and substitute tofu for shrimp). Maybe hot and sour soup (a chinese soup). Probably any tomato based soup could use a little smoked tofu in it. If you are a brave little soldier, you could even slice it and eat it on a sandwich. Smoked tofu is more dense and less watery than unflavored tofu-in-a-tub and won't wet your bread.
