Are eggs future birds???!

Question:

Are eggs future birds???

dumb question, but my gf were discussing it...are eggs unborn chickens???...dont laugh i feel stupid asking

Answers:
Only if they are fertilized eggs--- which can't happen if you are eating factory-farmed eggs. (But you might investigate how disgustingly cruel the conditions are in those factory-farms, and how many chemicals, hormones etc, the chickens are fed---)
If you eat free-range chicken eggs (more compassionate and natural for the birds) then chances are the eggs may be fertilized, and if left with the mother would become cute little fluffy chicks.
If the eggs have not been fertilized, they are passed out from the chicken's body, just like your girlfriend does each month when she has her period.
So, in essence, you are eating a chicken's period...ewwwww!

Not if you eat the eggs

Eggs that are bought in the store are not fertilized, therefore they are not "future chickens".

not necessarily. you can have an egg thats not fertilized and wont ever hatch. but if it is a fertilized egg yes. it would be a baby bird

The ones you buy from the store are not birds

the eggs you eat are unfertalized...therefore not chickens...only fertalized chicken eggs become chicks and those usually stay at the farm

(D) All the above!

its not a dumb question..

eggs are eggs. future birds, i think not. not when they are eaten.

It's true, the eggs you buy at the grocery store are not fertilized and therefore would never have become chickens. However, if they were not planning to sell those eggs to the store, they would have been fertilized and hatched as baby chicks.

yes not unless you eat them then they aren't

wow.. stupid the answer is: DUH!

An egg is a chicken's period.

Not a baby.... not without the male's sexual contribution.

:)

then dun u think that eating a chicken period is worse than eating a future bird..

I think it is lame when vegetarians and vegans do eat eggs because most vegetarians are vegetarians because they dont want to kill animals but that is exactly what you are doing when you eat an egg.

that's sort of the definition of eggs. ha.

Will make it a simple answer (which will put a final end to the discussion):

If a human female (a woman) ovulates, her egg will wait a while for fertilisation. If that doesn't happen, the woman will have her periods, disposing of the egg and its nest material (like blood). Is that the abortion of a child? Nope, it's just an egg.

So, if a chicken ovulates, lays her egg, and the egg is not fertilised........ is the egg a baby-chicken or just an egg?

Simple ;-)

No, eggs are breakfast

good question. no, they are not unborn chickens. these eggs are made from chickens that have no contact with males whatsoever
