Yes, I am aware that vegans to not eat dairy or other animal secretions. I am vegan, but I have heard from many sources that the "butter topping" has no dairy in it. I am concerned that it may still contain whey or casein.

YES... in most places. You have to ask them. The Regal cinemas near me has vegan butter. I believe it is a coconut oil they use. Anyway, it is presumed that most theaters use this special "theater -vegan- butter."

EDIT
YES! I found it. Here is PETA's list of vegan friendly places to eat out. Theater butter IS on the list.

You will see it toward the bottom of the page.
:D
As far as I know"VEGANS" do not eat/drink milk, cream, cheese,or butter.!
nope!
stay away from the toppings... if it's air pop.. keep it that way you'll be fine.
though i question it's vegan appropriateness... if you get what i'm saying..
most processed foods are questionable... you really must make that choice and use common sense.
so.. that's what they call that topping? yuck! thought it was old gum.
it's probably not real butter so no.
I would say it is not vegan.
OK, this is off topic but did you know butter flavor is primarily butyric acid? This is also present in parmesan cheese and *drumroll* BARF.
Traditionally, movie theatres use coconut oil rather than butter. I can't make any guarantees about what some mom n' pop drive-in might offer, but you should be safe eating popcorn at any of the big chains...
99.99% of the time it WILL be vegan! Almost every theater uses a product called Topsit to fill their dispensers and Topsit is totally vegan friendly. The yellow salt they use is called Flavacol and is also safe.
depends on the butter. some movie popcorn butter maybe just full of sugar and margarin. never really tastes anything like butter...
