How can you get protein if your a vegetarian?!

Question:

How can you get protein if your a vegetarian?

Answers:
Eat lots of soy, have marmite or other yeast extracts, eat nuts, eat beans and take protein supplements. And eat lots of avocado. You will have much more protein than the average steak-eating American. In fact, a medium sized avocado has more protein than a large steak. No, I didn't do a type-o.

Peanut butter, sperm, fishies, and ENSURE....

Beans or eggs if you will eat those.

cheese, eggs, veggie meat, peanut butter, beans, nuts, tofu

BEANS

Protein from animal sources, such as milk and meat, is called complete because it provides all nine of the essential amino acids. Vegetable, on the other hand, is incomplete. However, as a vegetarian you can still gain all the amino acids through consuming a wide variety of other foods like soybean, tofu, whole grains, rice, spaghetti, beans( kidney beans, white beans, lima beans, navy beans, and etc), peanut butter, vegetables (spinach, asparagus, peas, lentils, lettuce and etc), many others like mushrooms, baked potatoes including the skin but without salt, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, tomatoes and even watermelon. :))

Beet Root

Broccoli

Avocado

Beans (kidney beans, almond)

Tofu

you can get protien from alot of things.. peanut butter, veggie meats, they have all kinds of power bars that have extra protien added and also protien shakes and smoothies..

Tofu
Quorn
Peanuts
Lentils
Soy beansMarket stall full of vegetables
Tinned baked beans
Red kidney beans
Poppy seeds
Sesame seeds
Fortified soy milk
Almonds
Figs
Haricot beans
Spinach
Brazil nuts
Chickpeas
Kale
Broccoli
Spring greens
White cabbage

And if you do eat dairy products then of course these are an excellent source of first class protein:

Cheese
Eggs
Milk
Yogurt
Butter
Fromage Frais

Dairy products are higher in calories than the vegan (non dairy) sources of protein so they should be eaten in moderation, particularly if you are trying to lose weight (or keep the same weight!). You can of course buy low fat varieties of cheese and drink semi-skimmed, or even skimmed milk, low fat yogurts and spreads.

whats with all the fish answers. This question asked "if your (sic) a vegetarian"

a balanced diet of fruit, veeggies, eggs, nuts, seeds and cereals is fien for a veggie diet. There is no need for suppliments of any kind.

I've no idea where i get my protein from, i just eat a range of veggie foods.

Protein is not just in animal products. It's in virtually everything. Include:beans, nuts, peanut butter, whole grain breads and pastas, soy, and eggs if you eat them. Vegetables even have protein.

Legumes, soy products and peanut butter.

Beans, nuts, soy products (tofu, soy milk, meat replacements) and broccoli are all great sources of protein. If you are really interested, you should buy a book on nutrition for vegetarians.
