Any fruitarians out there?!

Question:

Any fruitarians out there?

If you are,how do you feel mentally and physically? How well has it worked for you?How long have you been one?

Answers:
Ok... I am going to be the first vegetarian on here to say it (to my knowledge)... I am starting to think this fruitarian thing is something made up by meat-eaters to make fun of us. You know, the ones who say "ooooh, plants are alive; they feel pain; you are a hypocrite."

:)

Please, feel free to point out my ignorance.

I try to contemplate this concept, and I cannot get past the concepts that plants do not have a nervous system to feel pain, and they do not have a limbic system to allow them to feel emotions such as fear.

Also, plants are renewable. If one plant is gone, it only takes a seed and some sun and water to make a new plant. Seeds should be abundant. Even from an environmentalist perspective, a fruit tree may be able to stay in the same place year after year, but a vegetables do not require too much more. Vegetables require a ridiculous amount less than meat requires, so I can see that. But veggies can be planted in the same areas in a rotating cycle.

So, they may exist, but I would like to see it for myself, otherwise I will think it is a devious plot of the man to bring us down.

As I said, feel free to correct my ignorance.

Fruitarian diets are bad in the long term. There is very little protein in fruits. You would feel tired and sick. At least include some legumes in your diet. That's botanically fruit.

no. when you're a vegetarian, you can still eat fruits. it just means you exclude meat from your diet.

to Ed above: fruititarians only eat fruit and plant that you dont have to kill the whole plant to harvest.

Some people wrongly think fruit diet is bad but that's wrong! Fruits have certain enzymes and plenty of nutrition. Pumpkins, Tomatos, Apples, Bananas, are all good for you! They are more important than Veggies. Veggies are
important too! I'm healthy I eat about 3 fruits a day and a few veggies. Those that say fruits have no vitamins are totally wrong!

To answer your question... yes there are people who only eat fruit!! I am vegan, living in Australia, but in our main weekend paper last year, there was a full page story about a group of people living in north Queensland, who live solely on fruits. They are near the rain forest and have abundant supplies of mangoes, bananas, citrus fruits, avocados, pawpaws, bush melons and more, and survive on these. They look wiry , but strong and healthy, and from the article, had a full life, working, playing sport and just getting on with their belief. This was a very interesting article, and was one of many different lifestyle choices that people follow today worldwide. Hope this helps you a little.
