Is It bad for a vegetarian to eat fish ?
i have been a vegetarian for 2 years and a bit i eat fish but don't know if its wrong please help?
Answers:
Then you're not a vegetarian. Vegetarians do not eat animals. Fish are animals. If you eat animals (fish included), you should not call yourself a vegetarian.
No... that's normal. I know several that still eat fish. It's just a different form of vegetarianism
Some vegetarians eat eggs and fish. It's personal preference.
fish eat whatever is there is, including meat or other fish that may have eaten meat REALLY
Not in the least. My Aunt & Uncle have been vegetarians for many many years and enjoy eating fish almost daily.
Then there are Vegans who only eat foods that have been grown out of the ground.
Depends on how serious you are about not eating anything that was once alive.
Hope this helps
I guess it just depends. Some vegetarians are very strict and won't eat anything that has a "face".
The person who said you are not a vegetarian is half right, vegetarians don't eat animals but vegetarians don't consider fish as a meat source even though it is in some ways. But every vegetarian i have met eats fish they say it and pork are not red meats.
Can't you hear them SCREAMING!!!!!
No, seriously...they're made out of seaweed so it's ok.
EDIT: THANKS FOR THE THUMBS DOWNS, I'M GOING FOR A RECORD! morons
why are you a vegetarian If you like meat?
the only reason you should be a vegetarian is if you dont like meat. God put animals on this earth for us to have dominion over.
In other words he put animals on earth for us to eat.
no you haven't been a vegetarian for 2 years.
You have been a meat-eater that restricts thier meat intake to a bit of fish.
Its simple, see no-end of previous questions and answers on this subject.
A vegetarian is someone who does nto eat meat, fish, poultry or slaughter by-products.
its not upto individuals to re-define words when they have had recognised definitions for 110 years.
It's not "bad" to eat fish.
It does mean you aren't vegetarian, though.
I cant really say that its wrong because everyone has their opinions on whats right and wrong, but how I see it is, if you're going to be a vegetarian then you should take into consideration why you decided to become one. If it was for health or for animal rights...either way its been said that eating a certain amount of fish can cause health issue (which can be said for alot of things too...), and fish are living creatures just as much as a cow, pig or chicken. But thats my opinion, I've only been a veg. for 3 years now and I stopped eating chicken and fish 2 years ago.
Yes. You are lying when you call yourself a vegetarian.
Vegetarians do not eat fish so you are not a vegetarian.
No it isn't WRONG! A vegetarian can eat whatever they want to, I think it depends on the person. I used to be a vegetarian too, and that's fine that you don't want to eat animals. I personally think that they're yucky and that's why I seldom eat them, but God made animals for us to eat. Well anyway, rock on vegetarians!
Good grief. This isn't a matter of opinion or a matter of "eat what you like". If you eat fish, you ARE NOT a vegetarian. Vegetarians means that you don't eat any type of dead animal. Fish are animals.
If you eschew all other meat sources, then you can slowly start to wean yourself off of fish, should you choose to. It's not my place to tell you that you are wrong or a bad person, but I can say that by definition you are not currently a vegetarian.

there are toxins in the ocean. fish breath in the toxins. you eat the fish. as you eat the fish you eat the toxins.
avoid fish.
well then you're not a vegetarian cause fish is meat because it came from a living animal if you were a true vegetarian you would know that even if you were not a vegetarian you should know fish is a meat!!!sheesh people these days
It isnt bad....but vegetarians dont eat any meat or flesh. This includes fish, sice fish have flesh. Technically you are what is called a pescarian, or a pesco vegetarian.
No, it's fine. I am a vegetarian, but I eat fish occasionally because of the omega 3s. You really can't get them anywhere else, and they are awesome brain supplements.
Technically you are not a vegetarian - you are a pescatarian (which is a type of omnivore).
Whether or not it is wrong or not depends on your morality. I'm a vegan so unsurprisingly I'd comment that the same issues apply (and if you've given up other meats eradicating fish from your diet shouldn't be too hard), but as seen from the other responses there are those that differ. My suggestion would be to look at your reasons for giving up meat and see if using the same arguments it seems right to be eating fish.
It doesn't have to be a contradiction - I go on loads of animal rights demos and there are quite a few who share your dietary practices, despite thinking many other uses of animals are "evil" - but it all depends on your reasoning. Thinking that killing a being capable of experiencing pain is wrong would go against you still eating fish, but (I don't know so this is just a random example) if you gave up meat because you felt a kinship with certain animals, eating fish may still fit in with your views.
Vegetarians do not eat fish.
And yes, in my opinion, it is "bad" to kill any animal for any reason.
You need to understand that eating fish is bad from which point of view. If you call yourself a strict vegan, and then you have a fish, then on moral grounds, it could be considered bad.
But if you think of maintaining an optimum level of balanced diet, then you are doing a wonderful thong by accommodating fish in your diet.
u stickup with ur mind that i shouln't eat ok. this is my suggestion
