Silk soy milk sells by gallon at supermarkets.

i dont think they want to kill all those soybeans. Plus it is human nature to hate yippies. If u are a yippie or new age perosn there is only one answer.... ur not human. lol j/k i have no idea

It would be way too expensive.

If you run a Chinese or Japanese restaurant, you probably will buy it by the gallon. Check out Kikkoman, which makes the stuff in Walworth, Wisconsin.

An interesting question. It is because that in its original form, the soy bean does not come in a liquid form. However, soy beans are used in the production of soy milk, and soy sauce and other foods, of which there are millions of gallons/litres/kilograms produced and consumed ever year.

Wasn't sure if you meant soy sauce or soya milk! Pretty sure you can get soy sauce in huge quantities at Chinese wholesale places, but soya milk generally comes in the same kind of quantities as cow's milk.

I don't know why soy milk is as expensive as a gallon of milk as soy is very cheap, but a gallon of soy milk here would be about $12,

Soy what?

No matter what type of liquid (you are talking about volume and not weight) soy product you're talking about, it is manufactured by the gallon, by the gallons, actually. It's just not bottled that way for home use.

I'm not even certain that soy sauces are bottled by the gallon for commerical use, and there wouldn't be any real need for it.

However, soy milk can be purchased by the half gallon.

It does where I live. You just don't live in a place where there are a lot of soymilk drinkers. Any area with a large Asian population has such sizes. You did mean soymilk, correct? As soy sauce is easy to find in gallon sizes.
