Are they healthy-to begin with?

yes. Less starchy... Lower Carbs... Lower fat.

Skin colour makes no difference.

There are starchy and floury potatoes of all colours, including blue and black skinned

Anything red (red onions opposed to white ones, red cabbage/ white cabbage) is better for you... In the case of the potatoe probably only if you eat the skin. Not entirely sure why, antioxidants, I think....

a potatoe is a potatoe is a potatoe . . .
i care less if its white, red, green or yellow
once it gets in your body it breaks down into carbohydrates which breaks down to sugars....
sugars are not a good thing.....
trust me.... been there done that
it leads to diabetes

The girl above me made one critical mistake: never eat green potatoes. They're poisonous.

I'm not even gonna mention her no-carb advice.

Healthier-NO Basically about the same. The difference in a white potato may be variable in nutrients etc. if grown on the east coast VS the west coast. Those kind of differences may be the same as between a red or a white potato. Remember there are several varieties of white and red potatoes.
