Vegitarian foods?!

Question:

Vegitarian foods?

I am a new vegitarian, and i would like to know some good recipies or things to eat. Also what does tofu, and tofurkey taste like?

Answers:
Plain tofu is rather bland, but the great thing about it, is it soaks up whatever you marinate it in, or mix with it.

Here's a fun and easy dessert involving tofu:

Block of firm tofu (i.e. not silken tofu, or very firm tofu)
1/2 cup or 1 cup of melted chocolate chips (or carob for vegan)

Put the tofu in a blender; blend until it's a smooth, pudding-like consistency. Then slowly add in the melted chocolate/carob chips. Pour into individual servings and refrigerate for at least one hour.

It has the consistency of a thick pudding, but the richness of mousse. Enjoy! :)

Can't help you with tofu or tofurkey, as I never eat meat substitutes.
But for great ideas and recipes, go to the Vegetarian Society website. See below.

I have been a vegetarian for almost 10 years. Any kind of food you enjoyed, unless for some religious thing, can be altered to your liking. There are some really tasty meat substitutes out there like steak strips and corn dogs(my preference). Just don't look at it as if you can't eat anything..have to try new things.

Tofu has no flavour unless it is marinated. You will find lots of interesting recipes here : http://www.recipesforvegans.co.uk...

I don't care for tofurkey... don't like the texture or the stuffing stuff they use.

I thought I hated tofu... till I learned how to use it. :) If you're using it in a cooking recipe (like fried, etc)... make sure you don't use silken tofu unless it specifically calls for it. Nigari tofu and baked tofu have the most texture... so try those ones first. I use the Nigari stuff... so far it's been really good dipped in cornstarch and fried and also grilled on the barbecue. I still dont' use it that much though... I prefer the meat substitutes over it in most cases.

www.allrecipes.com has a good selection in their vegetarian area.

The simple rule is anything alive and with organs in a big NO ! as you go along it is up to your discretion as to weather or not you should eat something....lastly vegetarianism is about control not forcing yourself or restraining yourself and feeling miserable
