I'm a Vegetarian and animal rights lover! Am i more important than an animal?!

Question:

I'm a Vegetarian and animal rights lover! Am i more important than an animal?

Just because you are concious dosent mean it cant be taken from you right "opinion not personal"?

Answers:
All of the creatures of the earth are equal.

yes, you are much more important that an animal

That depends....if by animal rights lover you think PETA is a good organization then no you arent more important than an animal.

I to am a vegetarian for over 40 years. I applaud you for your decision. Yes, you are more important than an animal. You have the ability to give to society on a social and intellectual level. You can educate others on how important animals are to our echo system.

No an animal is not as important as you unless you join PETA.

no we are all equal from plankton to elephants we are all one and need to use each other for heath and nourishment but this doesnt mean we should over hunt so just eat the things that lived a good safe life like free range chicken

You *are* an animal. That's what humans need to remember - that we are all animals. : )

Not at all...it's man egocentric attitude that makes him think that he is anyways superior to animals.
Humans have a lot to learn from animals in terms of loyalty and love. At least animals do not rape and do not have any paedophilic instincts. They are aggresive no doubt but they have instincts developped enough to protect their species....

I think my dogs and cats are much more important than most people I know. Therefore, no, you're not more important. : D

If you decide your not, then i'll eat you and save an animal.

You are not more important than an animal....that is illogical because you are in fact an animal, since you are a human and humans are animals.

Anyway, the point is that humans are not better than other animals. That is how I feel.

It's cool that you are a animal rights supporter, and a vegetarian.

Animals should be cherished and deserve their rights, but yes, you are more important than an animal.

One of the ways you can see it is because of all the species of living creatures on Earth, you are the only one(like all other humans) that can choose to preserve and save all the remaining species of wildlife and flora.

'As far as you are concerned you are more important to yourself then an animal is I would suspect. However my dog is more important then you seeing as I don't know you. Just because you are a human does not automatically make you more important to me. What makes one more important is ones relationship with us, not their species. There is a great book that explores this very issue in depth it is called, Introduction to Animal Rights, your child or the dog? By: Professor Gary L. Francione

Our race has a tendency to be egotistical
and forget that we are animals also.
We are definitely no more important
than the other species here. If a natural
disaster were to eliminate us it would not
mean " The end of the world". It would be
the end of us. This is why it is so important
to respect the Gaea and the natural world.
If we are going to coexist with nature we
must learn to live in harmony with it.

OK, you're driving down the street and a small lamb walks into the middle of the road. There isn't time to break. There's only one way you can swerve and that would send you careering into a small child. You have two options:

a. Swerve and run down the child.

b. Run down the lamb.

OK, so it's not the best analogy ever, but it's not much of a choice is it?

I don't think any mentally well adjusted person would choose the life of an animal over a human, assuming both were strangers as some people would choose their pet.
Humans are innately programmed to think themselves more important than animals, but it's a simple survival mechanism. I think most animals would naturally find themselves more important than humans, or any other species.
The aim of the human species, as in any type of animal is to continue its race and thrive. An animal that did not find itself important would find itself unsuited for the real world, and a person who would run over a child before a sheep would not be serving the needs of his society as a whole.
