Can a vegatarian eat gelatine???!
Can a vegatarian eat gelatine???
one friend says yes one says no (one that says yes is a vegatarian)
Answers:
No. Gelatine is made from animal bones and is a by-product of the slaughter house.
Anyone who considers them self a vegetarian should know this... or - when they find out - give up the horrid stuff. There are lots of different ways to do what gelatine does that are suitable for veggies.. (such as Agar Agar or fruit pectins)
Nope. It's made from boiled up animal bones
You can get 2 types of gelatine. Animal and vegetable. Depends on which one they get
NO! look for pectin instead that's from fruit
Gelatine is definitely not suitable for vegetarians, it is made from various bits of bone, hoof and other ambiguous animal body parts. Unfortunately manufacturers put it in lots of foods including things that you wouldn't necessarily expect. A veggie friendly alternative would be agar. Hope this helps!
No. It's got nasty bits of animal in it.
It depends on their views!
Some Vegetarians CAN eat Gelatin but a VEGAN cannot!
A vegetarian is someone who eats no meat but will allow themselves to eat products derived from animals PROVIDED that animal has not died to produce it. Some wil and some wont eat Gelatin.
A Vegan eats no PART of an animal. A Vegan is a vegetarian who eats plant products only, especially one who uses no products derived from animals, such as fur or leather.
you can if u put it in your mouth.... but it is made from bones and hoofs all boiled up so it is an animal product.. pure vegetarians do not eat gelatine
Strictly speaking, no, as it's made from animal bones.
Well then, your friend who says they are a vegetarian is not a vegetarian if they eat gelatine.
As stated by other responders, gelatine is made of ground up animal bones etc.
It is possible to buy vegetarian gelatine, made from agar or sometimes pectin, but if it's normal standard gelatine then it is definitely not vegetarian
You'll want to pass on to your mate that they're not actually vegetarian if they're not making sure that they're eating no gelatine.
Gelatin is a by product of a dead animal..so the answer is NO
Can they? Probably.
Should they, well it's made from the leftovers of the meat industry: bone which has been dissolved by acid. nice, huh?
So in a word....no!
There are 2 types of gelatine and unfortunatley the meat is used more often. If you check the back of the packet and it says gelatine but doesn't specify which one and doesn't have a suitable for vegetarians sign then I would just leave it. If it's jelly sweets then tesco do good vegetarian sweets!
No a vegetarian cannot eat gelatin, it is from animal bi-products.
By definition I believe:
Yes for vegetarians
No for vegans
Vegans don't eat anything from an animal including animal by-products. While vegetarians don't eat any meat (which includes SEAFOOD AND CHICKEN!)
Even though I'm a vegetarian I don't eat anything with gelatin, which I recently just started.
a vegitarian can,, a vegan cant
it's not made from bones,, its made from hooves
