I don't eat meat what should i eat to make sure i get enought iron?
Answers:
Eat lots of green veg; spinach is the number one for this. I wouldn't worry too much unless you have an iron deficiency. The key is to eat a balanced diet; meat eater or not..
Try gargling daily with spanners.
Anything green has iron in it. You might also take iron supplements too. To get enough protein in your diet eating any kind of beans are good for you and eggs are also good.
All greens, specially spinach.
For protein, turn to lentils.
As far as I know, they are apples, beats, buckwheat.
Also - why not take supplementary iron in capsules? I take it and I feel an additional flow of energy in me. :)
Beans/legumes.
Fake meats are also high in iron if you like that sort of thing.
Mushrooms
All beans and deep green vegetables are rich in iron, but I would suggest you take a small iron supplement if you're vegetarian/vegan -- nothing too high in dosage as your stomach might disagree with a larger dosage.
Dried fruits, nuts, molasses, wholegrain breads, beans and lentils, green leafy vegetables, fortified cereals and grains are all good.
Also, avoid caffeine and milk around the times you eat these or take your supplement. Caffeine and calcium inhibit the absorbtion of iron. Iron is best absorbed with vitamin C present.
Good luck. ^^

Any dark green veggies contain lots of iron. Your body needs Vitamin C to absorb it though. So a juice with your meal is advisable.

Just carry on eating your veg and try to include as many greens as possible, but also ask your chemist for some Ferrous Sulphate ( Iron Tablets ) as they really do help a lot too !.
Apparently 3 dried apricots a day are what you need to give you your RDA of iron.
