Do leeks taste bad?!

Question:

Do leeks taste bad?

I know on Fruits Basket Kyou didn't like leeks so I was wondering if they tast good.

Answers:
Leeks, as the former chef above mentioned, are mild like scallions (green onions) but a little sweeter. They are wonderful in soup or sautéed and added to mashed potatoes. Two important things to remember when preparing leeks is to cut them in half lengthwise and rinse between all the layers to wash out any grit. They are grown in sandy soil and tend to be fairly dirty (even the washed looking ones at the supermart). The second thing to know is that if you get especially big or mature leeks, they can have a woody center that is stringy when cooked. Just discard it when you halve the leek.

Being a former chef and having used them many, many times. They are like green onions or scalloins, mild with a slight oniony flavour, they can be used in soups, sauces, with potatos, in salads, we used to poach them, and serve them are an appetizer with blue cheese and a vingerette with walnuts and walnut oil in it.

They tend to be a bit pricey, mostly they are used as a flavour accent, like with potatos to make the famous soup vichysoisse, served cold or hot it is refered to as Potage Parmentier. Try them in place of regular onions they are a bit sweeter and not as harsh a flavour.

leeks taste good when you stir fry them wid dofu.
