Soy, unless you have a soy allergy or sensitivity. I'm not vegan but I try to drink/eat as few dairy products as possible. If you have a Costco near you and a Costco membership, they have a great deal on soy milk (not the protein drink but it's something you could use to substitute skim milk in most cases).
As babies, mother's milk is best. As children and adults, soy is best. Btw, we do not need to drink animal milk to stay alive. I haven't touched it in at least 15 years, and I'm doing just fine.
rock the soy milk, man! though i MUCH prefer Silk soymilks, they taste really good, and are much more varied in flavors and varieties! (they even have coffee creamers and soy eggnog! ha!)
skim milk isn't very vegan, nope, not at all. :P

well Soy is good and all but they are fiding out that too much soy in young men decreaes their testosterone or increases there estrogen levels--something--so too much soy milk is not good for younger boys/men--My nephew ate tons of veggie dogs daily until my brother found out about this--you better believe that he put a stop to it--So--from that point of view alone--I'd say milk is better--plus I like milk more!!

The debate rages on. Hopefully I can help clear up some myths and give you some hard facts about both.
Milk has casein in it that has been heated in the pasturization process making it very harmul to the body. The China-Oxford-Cornell Study found casein to be cancerous and there are very high amounts of it in milk, amongst many other things that simply aren't healthy for you. You'd be better off drinking unpasturized milk directly from a cow than drinking it after the pasturization process. Casein really is some terribly harmful stuff, linked directly to leukemia and many other cancers.
Soy is an adaptogen. It has more of what's called "weak estrogen" which actually works to inhibit the stronger type of estrogen which is the kind related to women. Don't forget that men and women alike both have testosterone and estrogen in their bodies. Soy is actually anti-estrogenic. Which is why it is recommended that women hoping to become pregnant NOT drink Soy one year before conception. Soy is related to miscarriage due to a lack of estrogen in the body. Soy can also raise Estrogen when the levels are too low, which is why it's considered an adaptogen. If the levels are higher, as with women, it has a lowering effect. In men it will raise it but certainly not to any point of growing a pair of boobs or making the man womanly....lol Men need estrogen just like testosterone.
A few things to remember about Soy..
Stay away from it if you have any diabetes or thyroid condition as it Soy will exasperate the issue terribly. Remember that the Soy used in Asia is more healthy than the Soy here because it is known that Soy needs to be fermented for 6 months to 3 years in order to remove the toxins, so when studies look to Asia and say "Hey they live longer because of Soy", but forget to say "And their Soy is fermented a hell of a lot longer", You're being mislead. Our Soy is no where near the quality as theirs and that makes a HUGE difference. Know where you're purchasing your Soy from and how it is grown and manufactured. Remember there is a cheap quality and a good quality, everything.

My advice is to make yourself aware of everything and NEVER take one persons word for it, nor should you ever take a FOR PROFIT companies ad campaign for it. Especially marketers!! A respected scientist of The China Study, Dr T. Collin Campbell said specifically "I can make a carcinogen look like an anti carcinogen in a research study". Inform yourself always : )

Personally, I think, I know, that all mammals only consume milk when an infant. Milk is not for adults. Milk from one animal is not for another.
I really think So Good tastes So Gross. It’s the worst tasting soy beverage I’ve had thus far. I think it’s a soy drink catered to people who do not eat very healthy, thus it is over flavoured. Silk is catered to the same people (white people), and tasted pretty good. Usually, though, we drink plain soy milk -- the Chinese kind in the 4 litre jug. All it has is beans and water; I think that's much healthier.
