Bear Brain - fermented foods DO NOT cause candida infections. In fact, adding Nutritional Yeast to your diet can help!

Dear R.: A lot of Asian products contain red fermented yeast. This is well known to lower bad cholesterol levels. So don't sweat it.

Fermented products in general give you a lot of health benefits. Boost the immune system. Diminish the duration of a cold. Clear up acne and eczema. The list goes on and on.

Miso, which is a fermentation of the soy bean - has been shown to speed the recovery from radiation poisoning.

Kim Chee, Saurkraut, Tempeh. Loaded in healthy things.

No because of it's potential to give or exacerbate an existing yeast infection like candida which can manifest in itchy anal or groin areas.

Pizza uses yeast - people all over the world use it - what's wrong ?

Many bakery products use yeast, people have been using it for years for cheesemaking too.

If you don't have an underlying problem like candida, then fermented foods are great because they're easier to digest.
