This question can't really be answered. Yes you can compare one article from PETA to another article in Times, but you'll never know which article speaks the truth. Anything that is written can only be found true or false by the reader. So rather than asking someone for PETA or someone who is against them, take the time to read the articles and find out for yourself.

From July 1998 through December 2005, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) killed over 14,400 dogs, cats, and other "companion animals." That's more than five defenseless creatures every day. PETA has a walk-in freezer to store the dead bodies, and contracts with a Virginia Beach company to cremate them.
Not counting the pets PETA spayed and neutered, the group put to death over 90 percent of the animals it took in during 2005. And its angel-of-death pattern shows no sign of changing.

The information isn't technically false, just one sided. All organizations do it. PETA is just well known for not speaking the whole truth and being hypocritical.
Not false information. They have tons of evidence. You can watch the animal cruelty with your own eyes. But it is certainly not pleasant information. Many people do not like seeing what their lifestyles contribute to, and hate PETA based on that and look for ways in which they might be hypocrites. Many people do not like where they stand, but someone has to stand there.
*As I have learned in many history and rhetoric courses, we need extreamists to help us see the issue fully and clearly to help us see the middle ground. Without groups like PETA, we would not know many of the horrid thingsthat are happening.
I don't consult PETA often, but I did see where 70% of America's wool came from. I never wore wool again. Even if what I saw was only happening to 10% of our wool, I would have given it up because no animal should suffer so I can have a coat, when I can find many coats that animals were not killed and tortured for.
I am a member of PETA. Show me your sources! I believe in humanely euthanizing... Any humane, rational person would rather an animal be killed than suffer, but where did you get those facts? PETA has a noble cause and purpose. No organization is perfect, but they do SO MUCH good. Animals are not ours for entertainment, food, or testing. In one section, it says they take animals from a county shelter where the shelter's euthanization method is to "shoot stray animals in the head" and supposedly PETA's methods are more humane???I can't say...but there may be other facts here...It DOES make me question PETA...still, i think it is important for people to know about factory farming and consider becoming a vegetarian...see the PETA video on factory farming abuses at http://www.meat.org/
No, it's not true. That "peta kills animals" website is all propaganda. No truth.
However, it must be said that some people take PETA's message where it was never meant to go.
Putting an animal to sleep humanely is so much better than a bullet to the head or a slow death on the streets by starvation. Some shelters won't even attempt to adopt out pit bulls. They are condemned just for being what God made them.
Until people start doing the right thing by spaying and neutering, keeping their pets off the streets, not chaining them, giving them proper care - PETA's got a job to do.
It's a sure bet that the people condemning PETA are the worst animal offenders.
PETA "spins" information to work in their favor.
For instance, the cruelty that they show happening at a slaughterhouse happened at ONE slaughterhouse. They show it to be an industry standard and it isn't.
It's all a comspiricy. Just believe what you choose to, PETA or NONPETA. Its all up to which website you choose to believe. Both PETA and the other site have amazing arguments that can be understood by anyone.
I dont think PETA purposely provides false info, they are just like any other organization looking for facts that will run in thier favor. Some farms/food/drug organizations are more humane and truthful than others and if they find one that is super horrid, they may group all of the industry to be the same without knowing for sure. (its just like politics, a few big crooks make everyone look bad) PETA does seem to have the best interest out for the safety of animals and I think does have many truths, especially since I am from a farming community.

And they also use illegal tactics to spread their contempt for someone with a different view.
Their Vice President takes injections made FROM ANIMALS, but then claims moral superiority because "she works in a job that directly defends animals". Pffft.
But then they'll paint your leather jacket with red paint. The jerks.

I would not say it's false, Their information on animal abuse is pretty much dead on. I choose not to support Peta for other reasons, but their info is pretty consistent with other animal groups' info on the matter.
Edit: @ MAX, I would love to debate the ethics of Peta's "humane euthanasia" policy if you are so inclined. Hell, Peta itself for that matter.
LOOK UP INFORMATION. Never get your info from 1 source, or let someone tell you what to believe. You can find 1000's of article's on p.e.t.a. I think they lost there way years ago. It's believe that they support e.l.f (domestic terrorism) with money. If you want to know look it up.
