I just found this website

http://www.healingcrow.com/soy/soy.html...

and it has all bad stuff about soy, and i'm going vegan, but if all of its true then i don't know what i'd do to get my protein and stuff.

Answers:
I have my doubts about the soy products bought at grocery stores as well, its not the same as the traditional soy.

People should not be relying on soy products for protein anyway its highly processed and should only be eaten in moderation.

And calm down about the protein honestly! you don't need as much as everyone tells you. People misunderstand protein big time! I will explain it as quickly as I can.

Protein is built with and made from amino acids. Amino acids originaly come from plant foods, before they become a protein. Plant eating animals consume the plant foods, their body's absorbe then construct the amino acids ito the correct kind of protein for that speies (note some plant based foods have complete protein in them, as well as amino acids). Carnivorous animals consume the flesh of the herbivores and digest the protein, breaking it down to its amino acids. Then they too absorbe the correct amino acids and construct the propper kind of protein for that speces.

The human body is more capable of digesting plant foods than it is of digesting flesh foods (thats why most or "all" of our diet is made of plant foods) But we are still capable of digesting flesh foods we just don't require them.

Our bodys can create 15 of the 23 different amino acids, 8 of them must be eaten in foods. If you are eating planty of vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, seeds then you will be getting all the amino acids and whole protein that you body requires to stay healthy. Just remember you don't have to eat whole proteins to get protein, eating plant foods gives you all the amino acids that you need. And you don't havee to combine foods together in the same meal to get whole proteins (that is an old myth). Your body stores amino acids in your liver and muscles.

If thats not enough then listen to this

A calf is born weighing about 75lbs, in less than 3 years that cow will weigh 800 to 1500lbs. How did it get enough protein to grow so fast!.... By eating plants of course! How do such powerfull animals such as horses, camels, elephants have so much stamina and strength to do the labors we give them, when all they eat is grass, grain and a few other plants? Human breast milk is only made with about 5% protein. A baby will double its birth weight in its first 6months of life. A humans protein requirements will never be any greater than at this age. So why would an adult need any more than 5% protein in the diet?

Excess protein in ones diet = disease. I becomes toxic and it can't be stored like fat can, it must be gotten rid of through the kidneys and also must be nutralized by calcium even from your bones (osteoporosis). For one example Osteoporosis and many other diseases ocur the most in the countries who consume the most animal products (meat, milk and eggs).

I have been a vegetarian for 7 years and now have been a vegan for about 7 weeks. I never seek out protein, I just eat a balanced diet rich with a variety of plant foods. I am more full of life and energy than I have ever been before. I am also doing muscle building without any difficulty whatsoever.

Beans and nuts have a lot of protein, yes they have fat in them too, but it's healthy fat and your body NEEDS fat. Do lots of research as you are learning a new way to eat and be healthy. Soybeans are closely related to peanuts. Many people are allergic to soy just as many people are allergic to peanuts and peanuts are not good for you either. If you avoid soy, avoid peanuts as well. There are controversies about many of the foods and especially the food additives that we eat. Good research is the key and it's hard to separate the truth from the hype. But I really believe that sales and marketing take precedence over health of consumers and the truth in many cases.

Soy is good for you! I am not an expert but i have read articles stating that soy has helped prevent cancer and it provides a good source of protein for vegans! But have it in moderation and not the highly processed stuff.

The kind of soy products that you can buy in the store are highly toxic, over processed and basically *bad news*. The reason is, that soy, being a legume, has phytates that protect the seed until germination. The phyhtates block the mineral absorption like zinc, iron and calcium that you should normally be getting from your food. Traditionally in Asia, soy was fermented for many weeks, thus starting the germination process and eliminating the phytates. Products like soy milk , tofo, soy cheeses yogurts and deserts are junk, definately not fermented, are highly processed and are very unhealthy. Traditional soy products like miso, tamari sauce and tempeh, are all fermented, have no phytates left and full of healthy enzymes.
Modern soy foods actually inhibit protein digestion and cause thyriod misfunction.
All the claims that soy cures cancer...etc... is just hype and propagated by the soy industry itsself. Processed soy actaully contains potents carcinogens that lead to cancer.
This site has excellent info about the dangers of consuming high amounts of processed soy.

A good diet will include all things in moderation, and as a vegan you need to be careful to include a variety of sources of protein, not just relying on soy. All lentils, nuts, beans, and whole grains are high in protein and are a much better choice than soy. Quinoa, for example, has more protein than soy and is very easily absorbed by the body.

Fermented soy is totally different than unfermented soy. Methanal and acidaldehyde levels go way down in fermentation and the albumin proteins become way more digestible. And the isoflavone levels seem unaffected. Soygurt and miso are both fermented. soy milk and tofu are unfermented.

Don't worry about your proteins, worry about your oils. The only way to develop a protein deficient diet is to eat white bread and jelly.

You need 20 - 30% of your total calories in the form of oil. You only NEED 2% of your calories as protein. Don't worry about getting proteins. Use lots of olive oil and plenty of unrefined coconut oil. you'll be just fine.

let me answer your question with a question. Is a turd healthy?

s0y haVe lots of protein and vitamin C
