Is Egg a vegetarian food?!

Question:

Is Egg a vegetarian food?

Answers:
vegans dont eat anything to do with animals such as eggs, milk, fish ect.

some vegatarians eat eggs and milk while other dont.

it depends on what type of vegetarian you are. To some strict vegetarians, called veagans, fish and eggs are not included in their diet. However, many other vegetarians eat fish and eggs. In fact, many Catholics who will not eat meat on Fridays will eat fish and/or eggs. So basically, it depends on what type of vegetarian you are and how strict you want to be.

Egss are meat, so I would think that eggs may not be good for vegetarians.

If you define "vegetarian" to mean "NOT from an animal source"
then, egg is non-vegetarian.
By that definition, incidentally, so is milk, honey,
and even kaju katli (to some extent).

However, if you choose to define
non-vegetarian food as

1. Food is obtained partly or wholly
from a living animal.
2. The animal is deliberately
killed even it could most likely survive,

then (unfertilized) egg
is probably vegetarian.

This answer in no way advocates you to eat or not eat
eggs, meat, fish and the like.

yeaa

No because it is an aborted fetus from a chicken. Some vegetarians would eat it, but vegans would not because they don't eat anything from an animal, eggs, milk, cheese or otherwise.

You could argue that yes, it is an aborted chick, but one could argue that the egg was never fertalized, therefore it is not a fetus.

So, my point, is that it's up to you.

Yes, it is; eggs are not animals. Vegetarians eat no meat; eggs aren’t really a meat. Some vegetarians don’t eat eggs. Vegans, however, eat no animal products of any kind which means no eggs.
Ovo-lacto Vegetarians = vegetarians who will eat dairy and eggs.
Lacto Vegetarians = vegetarians who will eat dairy, but no eggs.
Ovo vegetarians = vegetarians who will eat eggs, but no dairy.

Depends on what type of vegetarian you are. Eggs are a meat byproduct. Liquid chicken! lol

Contrary to what Summer said, it is not an aborted chicken fetus. The egg is not fertilized therefore unable to develope a fetus.

Lacto-ovo vegetarians eat eggs and milk. Some people who consider themselves mostly "vegetarian" eat fish and/or chicken but not other types of meat like beef/pork/lamb.Vegans won't touch anything but vegetables or veggie products because they came from animals. The main difference is how/what you believe in terms of the harm to the animal or your personal preferences with regard to taste.

An egg is a vegetarian food.

No because its mother is considered non vegetarian food.

no,because it is coming from a bird which is not a vegetable.

for ovo-vegetarians (no meat, no dairy, eggs are ok) or ovo-lacto (no meat, dairy and eggs ok) vegetarians, eggs are ok to eat. if you are a vegan or a lacto-vegetarian (no eggs, no meat, but dairy's ok) like me, then no.

An egg of hen, duck or an other aviary, is a reproductive zygote which is produced by the female species with the help of the male species for procreation. It is created with the help of blood and cells of the hen and unlike mammals it's externally incubated and the chick is given birth to. If this is a fact of science, then from where does the doubt arise whether it's a vegetarian or non-vegetarian food? It's so funny, how people for their comfort and need can change a non-vegetarian food to vegetarian food just because they have cultivated a taste for the egg and do not want their conscience to prick them as they are astraying from their culture of being vegetarinism. I think our country is full of hypocrates who do not have guts to face the fact, but have no qualms about degrading others for petty things. Egg is a non-vegetarian food even if no blood comes out when broken, it's created by cells of organisms of bird species and reptile species. If not eaten as egg it goes on to become a beautiful bird living running eating quaking etc. Have no doubt it's non vegetarian.

well i don't think so egg is a vegetarian food

No, it is not!

The vegetarian includes the food is in 4 groups namely -leaves,flowers,fruits and natural liquid(not blood). As you can see that egg does ot come in either of the 4 gruops ,thus it is not veg.
In other words eggs are from hen which is reproducing through its eggs.
you may ask that the eggs are not made from the fertilization and thus no chicks are born, but it is only an excuse to eat egg,but the egg does not satisfy the above defination .!!!!

There are different types of vegetarians (all will not eat meat):
Pesco-vegetarian- May be vegetarian, but eats fish
Ovo-Vegetarian- Eats eggs, no dairy products
Lacto-Vegetarian- Eats dairy products, no eggs
Ovo-Lacto-Vegetarian- Eats dairy and eggs
Vegan- No dairy and/or eggs.
