Oh and Amavasai, you eat all of those foods plus fattening meat. Don't act like you are better than me, man. I dont eat any of those foods, only nuts. You have to have some fat to survive. Get a clue.

It is a common misconception that vegetarians do not get these things. Iron deficiency is no more common in vegetarians than in meat eaters... meat does not have as much as people would think.
Also people get way too much protein. You can get all the protein you need from a plant based diet.
Any diet is healthy or unhealthy depending on how you eat. You should always eat a variety of foods. Look around at meat eaters; do they *really* look all that healthy? The ones who are healthy are the ones who eat a balanced diet, exercise and focus on taking care of themselves. Vitamins never hurt, but they are no more or less useful than for people who eat dead animals.
Here is a link to give you an idea of an *ideal* vegetarian diet.

(just type in what you want to know about in the search bar on the top of that page; they will tell you what you need... but honestly, it isn't difficult. Meat is not the prime source of most any of these things, despite what some would lead you to believe.)
Source(s):
p.s. B12 can be tricky. Get yourself some nutritional yeast, or fortified soy milk or cerial. And voila, you have all you need.
:)
Beans and nuts for protein. And they also make soy protein fake meats. You can get anything from fake chicken nuggets to fake lunch meat. And why don't you want to take vitamins? Everyone should take vitamins, especially vegetarians.
Try tofu and soy burgers. their both made of soy protein.
Where you that concerned about your daily intake of minerals, proteins and vitamines as a non-vegetarian? Good for you!
Well, then you should know, that a balanced diet, that contains fresh fruit and berries, greens, vegetables, beans, soy and tofu products, nuts, healthy fats like olive oil and eventually low fat cheese and yoghurt will give you everything your body needs.
For the list of foods where you can get the vitamins and minerals and essential fatty acids, try these 2 links:

For protein, you can get it from a variety of beans and legumes. Actually, vegetables also contain protein, just that the protein content is not as high as those found in beans and legumes.
I take exception to the soy products which are now said to be unhealthy. Go to the web and type in Dr. Mercola and type in Soy products for more information .

I've been a vegetarian for over ten years. The simple answer is that you get these nutrients from everything else. The more complex answer involves some decisions. I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian which means I do not eat anything, essentially, with a face- that includes poultry and fish. But there are many different kinds of vegetarians.
I take a multivitamin/mineral supplement daily and a dose of liquid amino acids, just to be on the safe side. But you can get these nutrients from dairy, eggs, soy products, whole grains, even some vegetables. The more picky of an eater you are, the more challenging it is. It takes some research, but so should any dietary decision. Shouldn't everyone know what goes into his body? You pay attention to the fuel you put in your car, right? Your flesh and bones are an even more substantial investment.
