Is it more expensive to be vegan then to be meat eater?!
Is it more expensive to be vegan then to be meat eater?
Answers:
No. I spend less on Fruit, Veggie & Rice than I ever did on meat & junk food. Key to a reasonable grocery cost is using very little Pre-Made foods. Also not using them whether you are a Veggie or not will make you much healthier. Realise that Food is Medicene & if you are eatting bad food you are spending that money at the doctors & the cost of long term health damage is nothing you can put a price on.
If you get a lot of fake meat and dairy it will be more expensive.
If you eat wholesome foods (beans, grains, legumes, produce, etc.) It will end up being a lot cheaper.
Absolutely not. Fruits, nuts and vegetables are the cheapest things in the store. Meat, Microwable junk, and quick foods are what cost the most, and are the worst for you.
I have been a vegetarian for 4 years now. I've been buying tofu and soy and all that stuff. The meat products my family gets is really expensive, but soy and tofu can be expensive, too, depending on the brand. It's probably equal in price, though, because the meat supplements can be as expensive as meat.
Honestly, yes, and I'll tell you why ...
Look at obese America, and ask what they eat? They eat what's cheap ... what's on the $1 menu at fast food restaurants, junk food, fried foods, generic food (not name brand) ... people in general who are fat, not only don't eat healthy, but they buy what's inexpensive, because food is expensive.
So then, with that said, to eat healthy, it's gonna cost more, and to be Vegan, is even more expensive, because of the fact that they don't eat meat (which is protein) or eggs or any animal products, which means they have to replace these by taking supplements (you can't just replace meat w/ soy all the time - as too much of anything isn't good for you & soy isn't even a whole protein food, so it's not as good as the world makes it seem), which cost money, and good supplements, cost MORE money. Buying good, all natural protein power is expensive ...
I think you get what I'm saying. So, yes, it is more expensive, ESPECIALLY IF YOU EAT ONLY ORGANIC FOODS and use only organic products.
not always. If you have to still have faux meat cheese, butter, and vegan chocolate, and donuts and stuff (they have them)

it does cost a bit to order them and more of a hassle than for non vegans. But if you are willing to make more homemade things and eat more traditional vegan food than its not expensive at all.
no
No - it can be trade off. What one doesn't spend on meat - one can easily spend on meat and dairy substitutes.
In the U.S. meat is incredibly plentiful and affordable so we are in an unusual position.
On the other hand, there are many inexpensive non-meat protein sources. (tofu, beans, whole grains, etc.)
Well...Since the government heavily subsidizes the meat/dairy industry it would appear so. Vegheads still buy that stuff through our taxes! About 15 years ago I saw a study regarding removal of subsidies vs. food cost. Veggie foods became cheaper and animal foods got much more expensive. Meat and milk might look cheaper than alternative products but that's only because we already partially paid for them!
It depends on how picky you are. Meat is costly. But you can end up spending the same amount you would on meat when you buy special treats at the deli. The more exotic your tastebuds are, the more expensive things will be.
We're vegan, and my wife compared her co-worker's grocery bill (meat eaters; typical Canadian diet) to ours and it's the same. But the quality of our food is much much more. We eat lots of orgainc foods, all natural, etc. Plus we have additional food (nearly free) from our garden. We didn't even garden as much this year, if we did as usual, our bill would be cut in half as we really don't have a winter garden this year, but we usually do.
i dont think so im a vegetarian... i want to be a vegan but my parents.... :( neway if u do become a vegan go to peta2.com and they have a lot of stuff for vegans like what food to eat but watch out not many vegans are healthy so be a healthy vegan!?

it should be cheaper if you know how to shop, i can buy fruits and veggs from local farmers, for less then 1/2 price, it's more fresh and er vegg is always cheaper then meat.
ALOT CHEAPER! And I ONLY buy organic and get alot of pricey nuts and seeds...still way cheaper than when I bought other things! Good luck!
