Meat eaters: What do you think?!
Meat eaters: What do you think?
A few questions for the many meat eaters who like to visit the Vegetarian & Vegan forum:
1. Why do YOU think that vegetarians and vegans get so upset about meat?
2. Is there anything about meat (where it comes from, etc.) that upsets you?
3. Why do you eat meat?
Be honest, not ignorant...
Answers:
1) I think some veg*s get upset at the thought of animals being harmed in their lifetime, due to chemicals in food, factory farming, and being killed using painful/slow methods.
2) I'm not really upset about meat or other animal products. I can see why someone would be, but I think changing one's own diet won't change the world. In my opinion, if someone wants to improve the situation with regard to factory farms, they should: research what farms in their area treat animals kindly and buy dairy, etc. directly from those farms, to support them; donate to charitable organizations with the means to make a difference; and spread the word widely using media, internet and pamphlets, not just by reminding their small circle of friends.
3) I eat meat because it tastes good, I trust that I get nutrients I need from it, it's convenient, and it's not a priority of mine to change my diet in that way.
It must be genetic, because every-time someone talks about small animals....I salivate.
they are jealus and like to eat sticks and nuts and fart alot
I love meat it tastes sooooooo goood and makes me full and full of energy
1) They don't like to eat animals?
2) Not really
3) I was raised with it and like the taste and the nutrition
I never visit here unless a new question comes up and it happens to be in this section.
Honest answers.
1. Because it is dead animals
2. Not really.
3. Because it tastes good.
1 Because they can't stand the sight of blood
2 Only chicken can't stand it
3 Why not i'm not a rabbit
I just eat it because I always have and I think it tastes good. I try not to think about how it got to my plate. Now, in the future I would like some farm type animals and then I might think twice about eating meat. I would never eat one of the little farm raised animals that I personally raised. I wouldn't be able to do it...
1. Primarily because of animal tretament issues and/or they feel that eating meat is cruel to animals- that they should be left to live.
2. I buy organic - I'm not upset about my meat.
3. I like meat. it tastes good. Also, I am thinner with better labs when on an omnivorous diet.
Be honest... well I was.
As for why I visit here - I often cook for vegetarian and vegan guests and like to have ideas.
1. Cause it has a face & there are meny harmfull chical that company put in them thats can make you sick.
2. Harmfull Chemcals
3. it taste good and i need my fats ect
1. They get upset because it offends them, what you should be asking is why do they choose not to eat meat? That is a more interesting question.
2. The only thing I don't like about my meat, is what they feed or shoot into the animals. I buy organic meat.
3. I eat meat because I am a human being, and humans are omnivores. My teeth were designed to handle both meat and plant matter. I get my share of veggies and fruits, and I get my share of meats too.
1. I think vegans and vegetarians get so upset about meat because they think that meat eaters just don't care. They don't care that animals had to die for them to eat.
2. Something that bothers me about meat is that something had to die for me to eat. I went vegetarian for a week just because of it, but now I'm a meat eater, but I can respect vegans and vegetarians.
3. I eat meat because my parents raised me eating meat. I'm sure if they raised me to be a vegetarian, I wouldn't mind not eating meat. I'm sorry for all the vegetarians out there I like the taste of meat.
This is my first time in the Veggie thread.
1. I think some vegetarians don't eat meat out because it's a personal choice. I think others are influenced by other not to. And finally I think there are extremists who do it for some sort of attention.
2. The idea of a slaughter house probably doesn't sit well with most meat eaters (other than maybe hardcore hunters or psychos). But I think the states probably has a pretty good system for seperating flesh from bone.
3. I eat meat because I crave it. I could not imagine trying to get by without it. Fish and Fowl is what we are meant to eat, but there's something to be said for a good steak. I try to limit my pork intake, well because it's not really that good to me. (except for bacon mmmmmmmmmmm)
Honest as I could be.
i think it is because they don't like to think of small animals getting crushed and slaughtered.
There's a program on television, usually on a local ACCESS channel that takes a camera into a slaughterhouse and shows how animals are killed. Its graphic and horrifying to say the least. There is concern that animals are killed in inhumane ways and many people don't want any part of that, so they boycott meat and meat products. Others avoid meat, and fish, because of spiritual reasons or because they believe that meat and blood are unclean. And still others avoid meat because they believe that they eat healthier when they focus on other sources of proteins and vegetables. In most countries, chicken, pigs, sheep, and beef have been given hormones to assist in cutting down on parasites as well as to make them meatier. These may or may not be carcinogenic. Farm raised fish is resplendant with Mercury and other chemicals. I have been a vegetarian in my life and certainly felt healtier. I eat some meat now because its easy and because I enjoy it. I don't eat as much as I used to because of health concerns and have actually been considering returning to a vegetarian lifestyle.
i am mostly a vegetarian that indulges in meat about once every 6 months. I dont eat it because my religion is banning it, but otherwise i dont have too much of a problem with it. I do realize that the animals they slaughter are very poorly teated. but then i think that the animal is already killed, so its not like they killed it just for me. and plus humans have been eating meat for millions of years and cant stop now. I think that it would be better if people are educated about how the animal is slaughter and killed, if they feel ok about that, then its fine for them to eat meat.
1. you ppl get upset because the thought of an animal being kill for you meal is upseting..
2. not rly.
3. because it taste good..and is healthy
I don't visit the Veg forum, but here goes:
1-they don't want to kill animals, etc. they think they are being healthy, but really just look pale. Though there is some evidence that meat contains higher levels of carcinogens...
2-not particularly. I find eating meat to be natural. Human bodies were made to eat/digest raw meat (as well as nuts/berries), by the way. Though I don't eat exotic game meat or even lamb/duck. I don't like the taste nor the idea of it.
3-it's natural, good nutrition for the body, fills me up & gives me energy.
1. vegetarians and vegans are very passionate and committed to their beliefs about animal cruelty, usually the environment, and health. I once decided to become a vegetarian but only did it for several months. I feel strongly about the environment and animal cruelty myself, I've just changed my beliefs about meat in relation to health. I also believe you can get around contributing to animal cruelty by buying local eggs, etc.
2. It upsets me that the high demand for beef (cows) creates methane in the atmosphere which is the second largest greenhouse gas which contributes to global warming. Everytime a cow exhales methane is put into the atmosphere. Therefore I believe that we should decrease our consumption of beef. Which I rarely rarely eat.
3. I eat meat because I strongly believe and have researched into this, that the ONLY way you can get all the amino acids and complete protein is by eating animal protein. My health actually suffered when I was vegetarian. I'm on a diet to counteract yeast, bacteria, and parasites in the gut which A LOT of people actually have without being aware because medical doctors never talk about it, and this diet requires meat protein and veggies. Vegetarians live on Soy which is actually bad for you in a lot of ways especially in high amounts. I try not to eat soy.
Forgtet about veggie and meat, the first person to drink milk was a very brave man.
I think alot of vegetarians and vegans get upset about meat because they think it is inhumane to eat animals. Some get upset because they think it is unhealthy and unnecessary in our diets.
There are a couple of things about meat that do upset me. One is the way some of it is processed. The other is that we use parts of the "meat" of the animal that I'd really rather not eat, ie the stuff they put in hotdogs. Yuch. Also, I think that the hides should be used more from animals that are hunted like rabbits and dear. If you are going to kill it, use as much as possible.
Personally, I eat meat because I like it. Also, because unlike most vegans and vegetarians, I believe we do need some meat in our diet. Human beings are omnivors, meaning we need vegetation and meat to be healthy. The problem is that so many people eat meats that have too much fat in them and servings that are far too large.
I don't regularly visit anything here, so I don't know if this is for a specific reason, but these would be my answers:
1. Why do YOU think that vegetarians and vegans get so upset about meat?
Most don't like the idea of eating another animal that was once alive, or something gotten from an animal without its consent. Some vegetarians just don't like the taste of meat, though.
2. Is there anything about meat (where it comes from, etc.) that upsets you?
Not really. Sometimes if it looks like something I'd rather not eat (like insects), I might get grossed out. Otherwise, no.
3. Why do you eat meat?
I love the taste, I was raised to be comfortable with eating it, and I like the way it fuels my body (you can feel the way caffeine or sugar works in your body, and you can feel the way meat proteins do as well.)
i may be ignorant but at least i will be honest with you in this answer. i eat a lot of meat and its doesn't bother me that animals were killed in a humane way to produce and process it.it is nutritious and tasty and i am unaware of vegetarians being upset about my diet. i don't care what they consume.
I will be honest. I eat meat simply because I like it. I have never visited a vegetarian or vegan forum and have sometimes actually given thought to where meat comes from. As far as I know there have been steps taken to lessen the stress on animals at slaughter time, but i am only going by what I have seen on the discovery channel. I admit some of the treatment may have been cruel in the past but i do believe some things have been improved. Don't get me wrong, it wont stop me from eating steak or burgers or a baked chicken on a cold Sunday afternoon but I have occasionally felt some small amount of something, i will not say guilt, but its possible. If vegans want to eat as they do, great, they will probably live longer than me. I heartily disagree with people actively trying to get me to stop eating meat, its my choice. If our ancestors decided not to hunt out of guilt over killing a deer, duck or fish, we would not be here. A person truly concerned with the welfare of animals would not live in a house that has encroached on wilderness or in any way impacted the environment of any wild animal. Humans would be living in thatched huts in meadows so I don't need any guilt trips over going to Applebees for a steak.
1. Because animals are being killed so people can stuff their faces.
2. Nothing about where it comes from upsets me....grew up on a ranch.
3. Grew up eating meat. I eat it because I do actually enjoy the taste. I have given up meat for lent two years in a row and am thinking about doing it again, but it is very hard for me. I love meat!
1. a.) Because you have put the lives of animals above humans. If everyone was to stop eating meat in the whole world then
b.)there would not be food to feed everyone.
c.)the animals would overpopulate and they would get diseased and die.
d.)car animal accidents would increase causing more deaths and rising insurance costs.
e.)the forests and grasslands would be over-grazed causing starvation among both humans and animals.
2.Yes there is something that bothers me. I don't like that the meat factories hire illegal immigrants.
3. a.)because it gives us essential nutrients that our bodies need.
b.)It tastes good.
c.)I hunt and kill and process a lot of the meat that I get and I know that the animals died to feed myself and my family.
d.)to keep the population of animals in check so they will continue to thrive for years to come.
This is the honest truth of why I eat meat.
In order
1) I think vegetarians/vegans get upset because some of what I /we eat was once alive. They feel anything born should live
2) I can't have red meat since it raises my cholesterol thru the roof....still eat chicken and fish tho...but nothing about it really bothers me
3) I eat meat because that's how I get my protein, and I like it.
I understand the vegetarian agenda, I don't DISagree with it, to each their own. It's a personal choice, so what I think isn't your concern...lol. I don't believe that humans should be exempt from the food chain. Figure this...if you were out in the jungle and surrounded by lions....they aren't going to second guess whether or not they are going to eat you. True. we think more about such choices....but...we both have to eat.
1.) i tried to be a vegetarian when i was 12 i thought why in the world do we mass produce cattle or chicken just to kill them we dont have to we can eat many different things but i was 12 and i couldn't live in a house where meat was in every thing we ate every single night. eventually i gave in but now im goging to stop agan since i have i stronger will power.
2.) yes eery thing even thinking about how they suff those animals so we can have more to eat. health is a big part of it also
3.) hen you grow up in a house that constant eats meat you automaticly want it i guess
Because it it all good times to look. Not to comment but to see those who become vegetarians and such not because of a health issue but because they feel a need to belong to something.
Those who do no research on the effects on the body by following this diet even if you are commited to it.Basically it is usually a wanting, again to belong.
The animals are being mistreated? Most everything around you contains some animal product at some point. Do you wear leather shoes? Clothes that have been dyed?
Yes people should eat more vegetables and be healthier. But do it for the right reasons and for educated reasons.
1. I think they get upset about meat because they are for the good treatment of animals. We've all seen the PETA movies of slaughterhouses and such, and they do have a good point in that regard, but harassing people outside of a KFC is going a bit too far and not helping their cause one bit. Caring for animals is one thing, but pretending to know how animals feel, how they interpret their lives, etc is ignorance on their part.
2) No. I am lucky to be able to buy my beef and pork (I hunt as well, and have plenty of venison and wild turkey) from farmers I know and trust. Half the time I help with chores and feed and take care of what ends up in my freezer. I seldom buy fast food or grocery store items.
3) I eat meat because it's good for you, and it tastes good to me. It has always been a staple in my diet from birth until now.
1. It seems to me that the average vegan/vegetarian is an extremist. They tend to believe that killing animals to eat is cruel and inhumane.
2. No. I know where it comes from. I am a hunter. I have killed, dressed, butchered and eaten several of Gods creations. I take only what I have a permit for, and I eat what I take.
3. I like the taste of it.
