That sounds like Disturbed 2007 he was the last big troll here.

Ignorance. Not accepting something they know nothing about.

I didn't realize there were vegetarian haters out there...but I guess for every lifestyle choice available in this world, there will be people that will hate on it. I wouldn't worry about. I wish I could be a vegetarian...but I lack the willpower to give up red meat, chicken, fish, etc.

Like I said, don't let it bother you...ignore them, report them if you must.

i donno, i eat my burgers the same way i would eat a salad. i dont see what the big deal is. if im eating something, and the person next to me has a problem with it, i move, or i ignore them. so long as im eating what i want to, im happy. i think you should have the same attitude. people rush to criticize, so dont let it get to you.

Because they can't embrace the fact that it's a healthier way to live, for us and the environment. Going vegetarian isn't just for the animals,(which is still a good reason because people are radically cruel to them in slaughter houses, factory farms etc.) You look better, You feel better, you live longer and healthier lives. That's just it, But people are to scared to give up nasty meat because they think it's just so important to live on. When it's really the thing that is rotting in their colon and making them fat as they ridicule vegetarians.

Not to offend omnivores, just the ones who take our healthier way of life and mock it.

We don't. It's the vegans that seem to hate meat eaters and are always in our faces preaching and making snide comments. Eventually, you get mighty tired of that.

My cousin is a vegetarian and she doesn't announce it to anyone or try to tell anyone about her diet unless asked, but she is the exception to the rule. The vast majority of vegetarians I have met have been very much "holier than thou" individuals who look down their noses at people who eat meat, as if they are somehow morally superior to meat-eaters. Go back and read what you posted in your question ("but are you people who post bulletins like 'stupid vegetarians' the same, you just are annoying and have no morality") -- See? You are also one of those people who thinks she is morally superior, and you're not. You also believe that you're healthier, and again, you're not -- recent studies have shown that people on vegetarian/vegan diets are just as likely to have high blood pressure and high cholesterol than those on the standard omnivore diet, and it has also been shown that vegetable proteins are "incomplete" and are therefore inferior to animal and dairy proteins in terms of their ability to help the body produce and maintain muscle. So get off your high horse and keep your personal choice -- as well as your ill-informed opinions about vegetarianism -- to yourself.

Face it, there are annoying vegetarians, and there are annoying meat eaters. Just like there are annoying Christians and everything else. There is ALWAYS someone who feels they need to push their view on someone else. I'm glad thats not you..and its not every meat eater.

But I agree, I feel there are a lot more meat eaters who are this way personally. Not only because there are more meat eaters in general but because it seems to me, the same as you mention, whether at a resturants or with friends or anything, if you mention you are a vegetarain (not in a way to start a debate but even if you just want to know the ingredients of something on the menu) the majority of the people jump on the opportunity to throw in their 2 cents like its any of their buisness.

Why are meat eaters like this?
I feel its usually based on one of these 2 reasons.

1. Their basic idea of a vegetarian is the mass medias portrat of PETA. A bunch of people who go around doing outrageous stunts to get their point across. This is the view the media portrays a vegetarian as and because the average person doesn't know any better and gets the majority of their information from the mass media outlets, this is their predjudice view of vegetarians engrained in their heads before they get to know you. They are on the defensive because they believe what they see on tv, and feel that all vegetarians are the same, that you are going to jump out and start preaching to them, so they want to get in there and do it first.

2. When a lot of vegetarians do speak out they show full out meat, the treatment of animals, and the reality of the food industry. They show this information as totally uncensored truth, videos and photos that are pretty graphic and a lot of people get enraged. Nothing makes someone angrier then the truth, and most people cannot handle the truth, so to keep themselves from thinking about it and admiting the truth they instead decide to get angry and insult and put their 2 cents in about how they convince themselves its ok.
Just as when you tell you an alcoholic they need help they will find every excuse why they aren't, and will become angry. A lot of people know inside the problems and just do not want to face the facts in their own head.

Healthier is relative. A balanced diet in moderation has always been the best route.
As far as 'hating on us'. Well.... when you get together a large group from diverse lifestyles, the most vehemently opposed factions will always butt heads about one belief or another.
Questioning a person's choice of lifestyle carries the same threat of response regardless when your position is that the majority is wrong and you are right. You might as well be telling people that your soul is stronger because you pray to Cecil rather than some carpenter.
In the USA, fighting for 'your beliefs' is the basic premise for why the country came to be. So, don't be so surprised when someone disagrees with your point of view.

----edited for levity's sake.
I blogged about vegans last April. Didn't you know? God loves meat eaters. It says so in the bible. There are over 250 references to meat. 0 to "veg". Aliens are mentioned 8 times. :)

Just looking at some of the posts here can explain why y'all have a bad rap. Several posts calling meat-eaters ignorant. Several 'counter-posts' with moron or idiots simply don't help either side appear the least bit intelligent.
If it works for you. Great. Calling me ignorant because I don't believe what you do? Not so great. The great R.K. said it best..."Can't we all just get along?"

I have never had any issues with vegetarians of any type, I accept that it is a lifestyle choice of many people. I have two nieces experimenting with that choice.I also have a Friend who has been a veg. for many years.I have however noticed that there seems to be more ,lets say lack of acceptance on the vegetarian, vegan side.on this site i,ve noticed they seem to take a holier than thou attitude. We don't kill or eat animals! We are healthier than you!(which is debatable) I support your choice to eat what you want and ask that you don't force your belief on me that's all!One time a woman walked up to my son and slapped a burger out of his hand and screamed at me for poisoning my child.is that SANE? or MORAL? behavior like that reflects on all vegetarians and make you look like fringe lunatics! Im sure there are people who are nasty to you for your life style but then they would probably be nasty to me for mine too.what I,m saying is dont take it personaly there are nasty people everywhere.i don,t think you are stupid. peace

Because some people tend to dislike something they don't understand. It's classic ignorance.

We'll have haters until we're in the majority (I think we're up to...what? 35% now? something like that?). Even then, people will still hate.

It's just their opinions conflicting. I think they're idiots as much as they think I am. But,you know.

I know how to be civil about it.

I have to agree with Sean. As a meat-eater, it doesn't bother me if someone is a vegetarian. In fact, I use to share meat-free recipes with a vegetarian sister-in-law.

However, there are some vegetarians that are, frankly, as bad as fundamentalist Christians. Most of the time, I wouldn't think about either of them, and go about my life. However, when you have people that are constantly harassing you, eventually you get to the point where you "push back"....and then that individual begins to whine that they are being "persecuted".

Take heart...as long as you don't bother the meat-eaters, just be assured that you aren't one of those being "pushed back".

peopel don't like different people
so meat eaters don't like veggs
whites......blacks
so on and so forth

It is usually because of the "I am holier/healthier than thou" attitude most vegetarians take with the rest of the world. You aren't holier and definitely not healthier.....

Most people have misconceptions about vegetarians. They generalize the whole vegetarian population and usually that means giving us a bad name. Other people just don't understand vegetarians. This usually translates into anger towards vegetarians because we are different.

well they just feel guilty about not being vegetarian/vegan, so they are annoyed by vegetarians because they remind them that meat/dairy/etc is morally problematic.

because vegans are being brainwashed by a bunch of idiots and i feel it is my duty to undo the damage caused by morons, there is nothing wrong with meat people

Its because idiots like you post a bunch of BS and it just pisses people off when morons like you think you have any idea of what you are talking about. Like at the end of you question, you write "and we are healthier than you." How the hell do you know how healthy everyone is? And why do you idiots think meat is unhealhty? Sure, eating a big mac isn't good for you. But chicken, pork, and other meats are very good for you. Eat meat stupid.

I think people are judgmental and they feel bad about themselves. I'm a vegetarian because I feel better, have better skin, weigh less, and feel like I am doing something good. Now, two years later, I also care more about animals, and seriously think the thought of me eating a steak is gross.

however, my husband isn't a vegetarian. I make him chicken at home occasionally, and he eats burgers etc the rare times we go out. Its his call. Just because I choose not to eat meat doesn't mean someone who does is wrong, its just different. I think people feel like we often are holier than though, so that may be the reason.

i think people dislike vegetarians/vegans for a few reasons. people tend to dislike people who are "different" or have different beliefs or appearances. look at racism & sexism. people dislike us because we don't believe that we are better than animals and have the right to eat them. another reason is that people stereotype all vegetarians/vegans as people who throw their opinions in other people's faces just because some veggies are very passionate about not eating meat. everyone has the right to be passionate about whatever they believe in, but a lot of people get criticized for it. so meat eaters sometimes think all vegetarians go around yelling at people who eat meat. finally, i think some people are ashamed of their own eating habits and wish they could have the self-control and higher moral standards that veggies often have.

Many reasons, guilt about eating meat, ignorance, background or just plain getting a kick out of it. Most omnivores are nice and well adjusted. After all most peoplein the world eat meat. I choose not to as a) I don't like it at all it tastes horrible to me. b) I like animals and by not eating them I make a little bit of a difference to the world. You'd think that they would be happy just to let us do our own thing . We let them get on with it. I'm passionate on here about my beliefs sometimes but I don't know many veggies in real life. I only know of one other vegan in my area he is a friend of a friend of my hubby's!!!! Most people at work don't usually know I'm a vegan unless they see my lunchbox and are curious!!!

It sucks when people tell you that you are a freak and going against nature just for choosing not to eat meat !!! On which level does this upset them and why? The guy that called me this was bright red - skinned and borderline morbidly obese. I'm pale skinned and a curvy 12 (UK size.). Which one of us do you think is un natural ?
Just think vCJD and some kind of variant avian 'flu are things that you won't have to worry about!!!

why ask why, let you guys do what you want but dont wine and gripe becuase everyone is not like you. Me im having big steak tonight but if thats not what other people want then thats their choise, like being married or not, some want to some dont, why fight about it, just dont get up in our face with your views, its very anoying. thats why ppl dont like you, same kinda thing with bible thumpers, they push and push and shove their belifs down your throat wanting you to side with them. Just leave us alone and we will do the same with you,

and i dont understand how any one can be healthy wiht out a little meat, not saying you ahve to eat a pound a day but thats my opinion and opinions are like a** holes every one has them and most stink.!

I'm sorry, but you really hit the nail on the head with that last comment: 'and we're healthier.'

I was willing to assume that the 'annoying and have no morality' comment was at people who hate you specifically, but even so it's not exactly going to change people's minds if they think veggies are arrogant and act-superior, as they do, and as you are acting now.

The healthier comment was just pointless cocking a snook at meat eaters, and if you wonder why people dislike you that'll be the main reason. People don't like groups of people going round saying 'your diet's less healthy than ours and we're so much more moral and superior to you'. OK, so it said rarely in those words, but that's always the gist.
Ever wonder why the only reason for vegetarianism viewed as reasonable by the majority of meat eaters is 'I don't like the taste'? Because it's the only one which doesn't say they thing meat is wrong in some way, whether they say as much or not, and people don't like being told their diet's wrong.
